What caused you to believe in a magical guy in the sky?

Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held.
Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books.
Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin.
Believe nothing just because someone else believes it.
Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true

What happened to me is the Holy Spirit confirmed in my mind many times over the years that God is true. Therefore to me He is God and not a magical guy in the sky. God is good and faithful. He has comforted me in my times of sorrow and sickness, He has given me joy and wonderful family and friends. God Bless.

Seeing as the 'guy in the sky' revealed there would be masses that not only would not believe, but also be ridiculers, reinforces the belief.
A better question is what caused all of us, to have the abillity to pounder this subject?

he isnt really in the sky. it is just a figure of speech. to keep it simple people i think people choose a faith to find purpose and meaning of life. everything has to start somewhere humans did not just appear magicaly here for no reason.
