elders are what the missionaries are called.the one in charge of them is the president elder who is usually someon older. this is obviously cleared through salt lake as okay behavior. mabey if i email them this they might rethink it providing there arent a bunch of immature anti mormon statements, and its answered seriously.

By all means send an e-mail conveying your concerns about the Elders hitch-hiking in Mexico, especially if you can substantiate any incidents relative to the topic.
Incidentally, the man in charge of the missionaries in certain areas is called the Missionary Leader or Zone Missionary Leader. And, yes, he is an elder as well.
Usually, missionaries ride their bicycles from place to place. I have not heard about the hitch-hiking scenario.

From what I know Mormon missionaries aren't allowed to DRIVE while on their mission. They can ride a bice or catch a ride from hospitable strangers, etc. That doesn't always mean it's safe. Keep in mind these are people who read from scriptures that even they know aren't the original. (Ever see that episode of South Park where they explained the Mormon religion and how Joseph Smith became their profit? It's incredibly accurate.)
But in their defense their church provides great benefits.

I'm not morman but I live around them and grew up with them and as far as I KNOW the church does NOT condone this. The missionaries are provided with bicycles most of the time or are TOLD to walk. They are not provided with cars. Are these the same missionaries over and over or are they the same two? It should be reported to the church.

just like any church, whether christian, tibetan monk, buddhist, islamic etc, the younger members of the clergy are trained as missionaries....some churches send their missionaries to the jungles of africa to convert the locals and others send them to third world countries not only to preach but to teach and take care of the needs of the poor.
it is hard work, mind you. even if you do not agree with the practice, admire the dedication and work put out by these people. they are not doing it for money or fame but for their belief which is honorable. some people might call it "stupid" or "useless" but it is still unselfish work and based on their own personal beliefs.

the elders are putting the kids (missionaries are between 18 an 22 years old) at risk and that is outragous.

the worst part is they will get into a car with someone and start telling lies about how Joseph Smith is a true prophet and a good man, and spreading a false gospel.
