Helaman 3:9-11 indicates that cement as a structural material began to be used around the 1st century B.C. Critics once ridiculed this as wildly out of place for the Americas. But in recent decades, it has become well known that ancient Mesoamericans did in fact use cement in their buildings - and this appears to have begun about when the Book of Mormon says it did.
See http://www.jefflindsay.com/myturn.shtml

And how did Joseph Smith know there was volcanic activity in mesoamerican about 30 CE?

I'm not a Mormon, but I'm coming close. Nobody is providing me with answers as to why the book of Mormon contains accurate stuff Joseph Smith could not have know. I don't want to switch if I don't have to...but I really want some answers.

Writings of non-christians about Jesus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_and_textual_evidence#Non-Christian_writings

Since this is wikipedia, the best thing to do is get the names there, and then research what each writer said.

As for freet and other hardcore atheists, it doesn't matter what textual, archeological, or other kinds of evidence is found; they will always find a way to dispute it. Their minds are totally closed, and anything found that might prove the existence of Jesus is automatically deemed a fraud by these rabid atheists. Jesus said that people don't come to the light (Him) because their evil deeds will be exposed. These atheist are afraid to take an honest inventory of themselves and the hurt they have caused others, and that is why they refuse to believe that the existence of Christ might, at the least, be possible. I, for one, believe He is the Savior. Too bad these atheists can't open their minds for one sliver of a second to that possibility.

If you had a son who was fighting depression, you wouldn't just tell him to pray would you?

In the Islamic religion i know 5 times a day is important for prayer, but is a person obligated to pray 5 times a day when he is sick or taking medicine? Should he still try to pray if he takes medicine that makes him sleep too much or does he have to make up those missing prayers later or should he still try to get out of bed and pray when he is sick?

I recently answered a question pertaining to abortion and in the subsequent answers someone made a remark along the lines of ,"Oh, what cute little christians out there" or something like that.

Just because I am pro-life, I don't support abortion and feel that people who use abortion as a contraception method are murdering children DOESN'T mean that I am christian. It means that I am a compassionate person who has no tolerance for those who don't think through with their actions and do whatever they want to, whenever they want to.

It would be greatly appreciated by myself, and I think it's safe to say many others, for those of you who answer questions to not assume you know everything about everyone on this site.

You know what they say about those who assume.

i am saying there is only one GOD(some ppl call him as deva, jesus, abraham, allah, E.H.G.O......its just tht this whole world is divided into various category , which is madeup of many religions and sub castes.......but THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD< whom ppl from different religion addresses in different names.the essence of every religion, and wht every religion proclaims to strive at is one and essentially the same thing................TO WORK ONE~S WAY TO GOD`s SIDE...to be with GOD.......so then y is there a need for all these diiferent religions?y cant the ppl of this whole world accept this ultimate truth and come to terms with it....and transcend themselves from the narrowness and limtiations which , often tend to attach itself when someone becomes a stauch follower of a particular religion...............leading to fanaticisms

The church wanted to help someone affected by Hurricane Katrina, so they gave, free and clear, a house in Memphis, to a 'worthy' couple. The couple never moved in and sold the house for a profit. What are you opinions about this?

I think it was morally wrong for the couple to do this, if they didn't think they'd like Memphis, then don't take the house. Or if it was a deliberate scam, well really, it is a 'needless to say'...of course that is wrong!

I feel bad for the church, this is a hard lesson for them to learn...

Please explain what keeps you from being more zealous for God, and if possible, please explain how you would define someone who is "on fire" for God. What keeps you from being this more?

I'm not talking about the individuals...the Church is made up of saints and sinners (e.g. Pope John Paul II, Mother Theresa, or the priests in the scandals). What is your opinion on the beliefs of Catholics?

No, but seriously...

What's the difference between Protestant, Mormon, Baptist, Episcopal, Lutheran, Methodist, Orthodox, Presbyterian, Seventh-Day Adventist, Amish, Anglican, Jehovah's Witness, and the hundred other sects, but especially those ones?

Real answers please, not some "witty" oneliner/groaner.

Enlighten an atheist.
