God would just have made up all of the memories that we have when he created us and the universe.

Do you believe God listens and answers prayers for everyone, such as for healing, when the person is doing something they deliberately know is wrong?

I've heard people say that, since "we asked God to leave our schools, like the gentlemen He is, He was left. This is why there is so much violence in schools." Would God really leave a place we ask Him to? Does He have the ability to not be everywhere?

How do you know that it's real, and not simply babbling? How do you know that the "words" coming from your mouth mean anything at all? In the New Testament, in Acts, those speaking in tongues were understood by those speaking the actual languages. In most pentacostal and charismatic churches, there is no-one to be preached to in these "languages", and most everyone I've heared has just been babbling sounds, and not speaking a recognizable language. Words, sounds and utterances were repetitious and non-sensical.

When you get this "gift", how do you go about verifying that it's a real language? Aren't Christians called to test things to insure they are for real and of God? Isn't it possible that a hypnotic frenzy of song and spirit can simply bring about a state where people will babble and think it's a language?

How many Christians have actually HAD THE EXPERIENCE of being able to minister to someone speaking a language they didn't know? Personal experience only.

Earlier, I posted a question regarding the scientific study of prayer. Lo and behold, the only responses I received were ones telling me that God cannot be tested and various other nonsensical points that DID NOT address the underlying question. See it here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AplUnaGtD_7ZQYVh3sfygh3sy6IX?qid=20061122132116AA3HalV

So, I shall ask again, this time hoping that some Christian out there will respond to the QUESTION:

The Templeton Foundation paid to perform the experiment on Prayer. THEY seemed to think that science could prove God's existence - but it gave them the opposite result. What I am curious to know is this: IF (and a BIG IF at that) the Templton Study had indeed proved without a doubt that prayer works miracles, would Christians still be saying that God cannot be tested using science??

My point is why are you willing to accept bunk science (Creationism) that supports your beleifs, but then deny science that shatters your them?

I honestly have no idea. One questions covered a funeral slightly but if they get married in churches, WHY?? Do they go to the court-house for weddings and prefer cremation at funerals? I'm not mocking and am curious to know I'm positive there are PLENTY (grin!) who can help me with this one. Thanks ahead of time for the serious respectful answers.

I read that the irish famine enhanced the power of Maynooth-trained priests, leading to very strict, supposedly Jansenistic teaching with too much emphasis on unworthiness and guilt. When I was growing up in the 1950s, most of our parish priests were irish and put a lot of emphasis on these issues. I suspect my perception of catholicism may be unduly influenced by this but I don't know. It would be interesting to read a critique of the sort of teaching common at that time in contrast to that officially advocated today.

Mark 7:9
Then he said, "You reject God's laws in order to hold on to your own traditions.

Matthew 15:8-9
'These people say they honor me, but they don't really make me an important part of their lives. Their worship of me is for nothing. The things they teach are only rules that people have made."
