As a gay ex-Catholic thinking of returning to the Church, I've long struggled with the Church's prohibition of homosexual activity and marriage. But now I think I finally understand the policy... could you please tell me if I'm correct? Thank you!

Homosexual activity is prohibited because there's no way that a couple can conceive a child; that's why contraceptives are banned too. Of course it is still a good thing to show affection with one's spouse, but there are other ways to do that then having sex, and if you're not leaving the possibility of conception open, then you're misusing the God-given gift of sexuality. Homosexuals and bisexuals are just as good as heterosexuals, and must be treated that way, but it must also be understood that sex is for making babies first and foremost. Pleasure and whatnot is good too but it's not the whole thing, and if that's the focus it is distracting from God's intention. Technically sterile people and postmenopausal women shouldn't have sex ...

women priests and Bishops and the like is simply advocating homosexuality? A bride needs a man, not a woman spouse. Do you agree?

when will all the non beleivers, people who were born gay, jews and muslims and all the other mud people realize that the only way to god is our savior jesus christ? and when will feminists realize that men are above women, and here is why, Woman came out of Man! Adam was created AND THEN Eve was created using A RIB from Adam! As the husband is over the wife, so Christ is over the husband, and so God is over Christ.and also they will be sorry when the seas turn into blood and it starts raining blood, and jesus ascends from the heavens and anyone who does not have the mark of god on them will be cast into a lake of fire because they chose to not follow and love our lord. it even says this apocolyptic war in the bible the one and only truth. how can people say the bible is wrong, WHEN THE BIBLE TELLS US ITS RIGHT!!!

if jesus died for our sins and forgives, it seems that going to hell is the the furthest thing from forgiveness.

A recent study on prayer was conducted. The article reporting its results can be found here: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/31/health/31pray.html?ex=1301461200&en=4acf338be4900000&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss Basically, the findings were that in two groups of people, one prayed for, the others not prayed for, there was absolutely no difference in healing after open heart surgery. However a third group was prayed for and was TOLD they were being prayed for - and they actually had a higher incidence of complications from surgery. Of course, this doesnt prove that there is no God - but it is compelling evidence that prayers do not seem to work, as there was no difference in results between the two groups that were not told they were being prayed for...

This study was commissioned by The Templeton Foundation, who's mottos is "Funding initiatives for spiritual information through science."

I was skeptic at first, but i set up a psywheel and just put my hands together over it and it eventually moved on its own. At first I just swayed my arms around, letting the air move it. Then I moved my hand slower and slower and had my hand cupped around the psiwheel as the tips of my fingers touched. I actually said a little prayer with my eyes closed after that and imagined that it would move. It moved when i least expected it too, by itself. I guess i was just gathering energy and letting it go by distracting myself in daydream. I tryed showing it off, but it didn't work as well.

Ha! you know what else? I did an experiment where I cupped my hands around a light bulb and it it started to flicker and almost went out. What's up with that?

Besides God loving people and setting Satan on them. "I love my kids, but if they go near that mean dog in the back yard, it's their own a$$! I warned them! Some of them anyway..."

Mav saw that the President pardoned 2 turkeys today. Should we pardon Turkeys and eat enchilada's instead? Would God be OK with that?

Someone posted a question asking people what they would like to ask a Christian. For some reason, the question was pulled. This was my response which I now throw out to you all.

Given that Christians believe that the bible is the word of god, is your god truly loving when,

The bible sanctifies the ownership of women? And of slaves?

Sanctifies war and genocide when it invokes the name of god over its troops?

Sanctifies incest?

Sanctifies retribution, which includes the heinous act of stoning a child to death?

All of these questions in fact play into the fundamental question being,

Aren't these in fact the words of men and not god? Ancient men who lived in brutal, patriarchal societies?

Should we not look at the bible, and all written holy texts, with an eye to discarding that which is no longer relevant or serves us in a positive way?

1 Sam 16:7b. "For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."

This verse is used to silence anybody who would dare say that the way we dress matters to God. But ... Is this verse totally misused? Someone who is corrupt on the inside can put on a fairly deceptive front on the outside, that is for sure. But it can never be assumed that someone corrupt on the outside is pure on the inside. Wolves put on sheep's clothing, but sheep do not put on wolves clothing ... Or do they? lol

I guess what I'm asking ... Is how we dress important to God? Is it a reflection of the heart?
