Yea, I know, I am setting myself up for some attacking answers and some "smarties" that will have plenty to say & still not answer my question, but here goes...

I was raised with Southern Baptist beliefs. I have stepped away, even studied wicca for a few years. I have been searching for a church to attend since I have moved 10 hours away from my home town. This past Sunday, I went to church with a friend and really liked it. It was a United Methodists and I felt very comfortable there. Are there any major differences that I should know as I search for a church to attend full time?

So many people say: "What would God do..." "Would he get angry"
I understand that although humans are limited in their ability to think outside human terms (non linearly), but why do so many people also reference God and His actions as if he was a single entity in one exact area. Its like trying to tell someone where in the atom the electron is EXACTLY. (we simply say where it is probable to be, but we know it is there). The disputes that occur do so because God is being limited to what we can fathom. Why can't we try and think "outside" the box? Is it the default of our mind to think that way? True, God is a father, but this simply describes of His nature - one of love. God=Love, so why isnt God as you interpret him to be, not a solid, inert statue in a church?

My public high school orchestra which is located in the United States is scheduled to perform 'Hatikvah', the national anthem of Israel, at a large, public performance in New York City. Do you feel that this is an appropriate performance piece? Consider the controversial political and religious implications of the piece and the performing group. Thanks for your feedback.

For reference, here are the lyrics to this piece:

As long as deep in the heart,
The soul of a Jew yearns,
And forward to the East
To Zion, an eye looks
Our hope will not be lost,
The hope of two thousand years,
To be a free nation in our land,
The land of Zion and Jerusalem.

There is this guy who is dying of cancer, he prays that they find a cure. He dies and goes to heavan and when there he asks God "Why did you not send someone to find a cure?"
He replied," I did but you aborted them."
I asked this question before but it is too important to just ask once.

There's this absolutely ridiculous argument flying around everywhere that CHRISTmas is a pagan holiday. In what way do you think that the church deciding to celebrate Christ's birth on a previously established holiday make it a pagan holiday? Yes pagans use to celebrate a holiday on this day. When a bunch of these people converted to Christianity, they decided to celebrate Christ's birthday on a day they use to celebrate on anyways. Could this be a symbolic way they decided to show they are transformed by Christ? Who knows? But what I do know is that Christmas has pagan roots no more than my birthday has independence day roots.

As Christmas *is* a holiday, would you not consider it to be included in the greeting "Happy Holidays"?

(Once again, my previous question has been removed, but your opinions were of great value so I am giving you the chance to respond again -- or for the first time.)

Thank you!

Cain's wife?
The "others" that Cain's mark protects him against?
Moses' Father in Law's changing name from one verse to the next?
4-legged grasshoppers?

Seriously, if it's the word ofGod, you think'd it be innerrant, eh?

But, it obviously isn't.
so, how DO you Christians explain it away?

What can we do to get Him to accept us? Do you think that abstaining from sins (if that were possible) would be enough? What if we spend our time that He gave us helping people? Or if we spend money that He gave us giving to the poor or the Church that must be worth some points, right?

the article is above. a lot of people were posting on the msn boards that they were offended and i say they shouldn't be. i agree with the reasoning that they don't know who the toys would be going to. who's to say the people that received them wouldn't be offended? as usual it's always one-sided. you can't emphasize christmas being a christian holiday given it's entirely pagan origins either. do you you agree with toys for tots or not?

I really need to hear some true stories.. Is there life after death? Are we conscious after death and close to God and his holy kingdom? Is this existence really happening? Are we really here? Isn't it so much a miracle of existence? Does the spirit travel and reincarnate, ohhh the mysteries and wonders! Who wants to deepen their beliefs and knowledge?

I am exteremly confused right now. Please try not to be biast when you answer this. Christians: why do you think that being gay is wrong? I'm not, but I know someone who is and I don't think that your personal prefrence tells wether you are a good or bad person. If you do have one strong religion, what is it and why do you believe in it? I was born into a Catholic family and I am at a spiritual crossroads. Any advice is acepted!

I understand many Jihadists wish control the way Islam is presented in all forms of media, but have you asked yourself why Allah doesnt do this himself?

Cant Allah himself type "thats out of context. Your reported!!" Couldnt Allah also email offense infidels with death threats? He doesnt need you to do so. Am I right?

How do you know if Allah is even offended? The Quran doesnt speak about internet chatter, right? Personally, any notion of a thin-skinned God would be enough for me to dismiss the religion all together and laugh in the face of every moron who believed in it.

even though christian apologeticism has failed, sometimes i feel that that the refutations against christianity aren't always presented adequately enough on the popular level. Take for example the sam harris book "end of faith." Even secularist were critical of him for certain reasons.

I am asking.........................

.............can someone tell which book(s) present the most competent dissent against christianity?

Think about this.........Don't give an exact answer...

The Columbine Girl died quickly after they asked her if she believed in God....

Well, I am not scared I would actually be honored if I died for Jesus

To take a bullet for Jesus..BUT,,,,

What if you were hauled to prison

Tortured mersilessly..every day...crammed in with 15 other prisoners in a room as small as a jail cell...no bathroom..

Had to work in a cold labor camp each day

Beaten

Starved

Would you still give your life to God??

Really think about it,,
