Let a rotten saying not proceed out of YOUR mouth, but whatever saying is good for building up as the need may be, that it may impart what is favorable to the hearers.

The main admonition is to not use the name of the Lord in vain, which, basically means to not use it for trivial purposes. This is in the 10 commandments, which are in Exodus. Paul also tells Christians to not do what is unseemly, or that which makes the church look bad. I believe that's in Corinthians.

The idea is that God's name shouldn't be made base or trivial, and that one should always strive to make God's church look as if it is actually a thing of God. Base language makes a christian look foul, and that reflects on God and his church.

I'm not a Christian, but I hold to these concepts. Admittedly, when emotional, I sometimes fail, but I do strive for this sort of behavior.
