How do you know if you've been born again?

It's a little different experience with every person. God treats us as the individuals that we are because each one of us is precious in his sight.

A person is "born again" when the Holy Spirit of God takes up residence in their heart or life. Over time a person who has been born again shows the evidence of a changed nature. They have a growing desire to know God's will for their life and a lessening desire for the the temporal things of this world like money and power and prestige. Every year they become aware of new areas in their life that are sinful and they repent of those behaviors and become a little more like Jesus and less like their "old man".

1 Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such WERE some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Romans 8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,....29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ for salvation, you are born again. This is what God's Word says.

Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. It's that simple. Don't believe all this crap about spiritual gifts and fruit of the spirit- You can be a quadriplegic and be born again and no one else would ever know but you.

You have asked for forgiveness and accepted the Lord as your Savior. That is all it takes. It is a gift that cannot be earned. However, the enemy likes to put doubt in some believers minds that they aren't saved. Very common in newly born again.

If you have the indwelling Holy Spirit. God grants gifts through the Holy Spirit to those who are Born Again. These gifts (or oftentimes called "fruits" of the Spirit) are, "Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." (Galatians 5:22,23)

When you repent, are baptized in Jesus' name, and receive the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues and the Spirit gives the utterance.
