How about developing a kinder, gentler, more caring, more compassionate society?
Or
the importance of trust between people and how keeping the commandments and following the teachings of Jesus can build trust. We are more likely to trust someone who we know is honest and good.
Or
consumerism and its impact on the environment. If we are to save the planet we may need to learn to do more with less.

Problem: what would be literally a prophetic speech would be something God inspired and you didn't copy from us. I assume you mean it in the figurative sense, since you refer to Martin Luther King's speech. But I don't thing King got help. It was burning os strongly in him did it on his own. That is why you call it prophetic. Take ideas from us, and I'm afraid it will fall flat.
Now if the theme of abotrtion or stem-cell research or something else is really burning inside of you, you are enthused, or angry or hopeful about something already, then make your speech (choose one single sentence that could express the essence of all you want to say, break it down into 2, 3 or 4 points, and create an introduction and conclusion - each of which makes your whole point). Then do some research to fill in where you need some detailed facts. But don't overdo that part.
You must be personally knowledgeable about the subject
You must be passionate about it
You must have some first-hand experience pertaining to it
You must be determined to convince your listeners of your point of view. (Before starting, think: "At the end of my speech I want my listeners to ..."). Those are all essentials of what you call a prophetic speech.
Have you though of the subject of abused children? Or of people who are starving because of the selfishness of "develped" countries? Those are the kinds of things that could get me going, but we each have different things that make us tick. It's got to be you.
P.S. I just read the answer by Skepsis, who says all this in a much better and more concise way.

You can find much about stem cell research on line try the Yahoo, or Google search engines. The Pro Life issues are well covered by Catholics, and you should find a lot on that issue as well . Prophetic speech would be looking into the future on the issue you plan to write about. In stem cell about prolonging life and the possibility of curing diseases, and what effect that would have on our society, and so with the abortion issue, the killing of the innocents is described in the scriptures, and the rather depressing issue of young women considering abortion, by actually murdering the Innocent baby.

Keep in mind that the purpose of prophecy is to change behavior, not predict the future. Find an injustice you care strongly about, then write your speech, concentrating on what makes the issue so wrong. Then think of the possible social consequences if nothing changes. From that, you should be able to produce a good Jeramiad. If you like, you can present a positve alternative to give the people hope.

What do you mean by prophetic speech. Do you mean prophesy as in predicting the future, because MLK Jr. was not a prophet? Or are you just looking for a position speech like MLK's "I have a dream" speech, which spoke out against civil rights abuses?
Abortion, stem cell research, prayer in schools, flag burning amendments, gay marriage rights, gun control, intelligent design vs. evolution in schools. These are a few topics that would make interesting position papers depending on which side of the issue you wanted to argue.
Anyone can make a prediction speech about any silly prediction. Just ask any psychic or tarot card reader. The challenge is to make a prediction that actually comes true. In order to do that, one must rely on revelation from God, who alone knows the future. This revelation can only come through one of His prophets or from the Bible, which was written by holy men who were inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Based on the Bible, a speech could very easily be made on the rise of the religious right as a result of the moral decline in the world. The primary supposition being that because of moral decline (same sex marriages, drugs, alcohol, unwed mothers, stem cell research, cloning, crime, violence etc) that the nation must get back to its roots, mainly family values and God. The Bible predicts war, earthquakes, famines, pestilences etc in the end time. Because of moral decline, the religious right will declare these natural disasters as judgments from God because of our moral decline. The religious right has already blamed 911 and Hurricane Katrina on moral decline, and has stated that unless we get back to God, more disasters will come.
Although their reasoning is flawed, it will appear to be conclusive to many, and laws will be passed exchanging basic civil rights for perceived security. In effect, we as a nation will repudiate most if not all the freedoms that our ancestors fought so hard to achieve. Church and state will combine to attempt to legislate morality, hoping to stem the tide of "judgments from God". As always, a combination of church and state will bring about persecution of those not following the mandates of said union.
Good luck with your paper. I hope I have introduced some helpful ideas.

A speech about the miracle of abortion would be a wonderful idea. With the world population exploding and threatening the survival of humanity as we use up finite resources and poison our oceans and air, you could show how abortion is part of God's plan to help man maintain a sane dominion over the Earth.

Ok this could be fun
Start in the book of Daniel around chapter 12. And pick a small section and go with that. If you really draw close to GOD you might come up with a real one!
May GOD richly bless you.

That is weird. Phropecy is one of the gifts, and not everybody has it.
I think, one of the best topics that you could choose would be America's horrible treatment of the poor. Hands down. Remember the subject dwelt on the most by Christ was money, its misuse, and the plight of the poor.

How about defending God from the judgmental punishing nonsense that organized religion spreads about him.
He needs some help in that area.
