I can only think of one and that's the huntress out of batman comics, so you can't use her--and to be fair, lets stick with superheroes everybody would know--not bibleman or some other character dreamed up by a church that doesn't sell well

My wife and I, who recently moved to Denver, have been trying to meet other born again christians in the area.

We invited over a nice couple from the local church for an evening at our place. Tim owns a hardware store. Kate is a mother of 3.

After we had eaten Tim and I settled down with a non alcoholic drink while the women did the dishes. He asked me if I would like to sleep with Kate. Kate is a real knock out, with a pretty face, long legs, and a great rack. I knew I would have my wifes permission. She and I have attended many wife swapping evenings through our old church.

When Kate and I came back from the bedroom an hour later, Tim was waiting for me to say something. After I thanked him, he seemed angry and asked if he could now sleep with my wife. I replied certainly not - I had already had his wife and did not want to share mine.

In the Bible it says "Since we are his children we will share his treasures." - Gal.5:25

Was it unchristian not to share my wife?

I cannot conceive of a God who rewards and punishes his creatures, or has a will of the type of which we are conscious in ourselves. An individual who should survive his physical death is also beyond my comprehension, nor do I wish it otherwise; such notions are for the fears or absurd egoism of feeble souls.

would say

Why did it take you so long to bring your lazy *** down so I could see you? You took too damn long

Why in the hell would you let these people KILL eachother fighting about you?

Why do so many of your followers act like the devil?

Who made you? If no one made you, do you consider yourself an Atheist?

I bring this here simply because I've seen several questions about if an atheist can actually live an ethical life.

"A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeeded be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death."

Slavery in the bible

What does the Bible say about beating slaves? It says you can beat both male and female slaves with a rod so hard that as long as they don't die right away you are cleared of any wrong doing.

When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)

You would think that Jesus and the New Testament would have a different view of slavery, but slavery is still approved of in the New Testament, as the following passages show.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)

Do you find it hard to "get out of yourself" and think about how you act and what you say will affect others??

I find it hard, but when I get some momentum with this, I can do it often. I feel self centeredness is a heartbeat in North American society.

Any thoughts?? How do you deal with practicing this??

Thanks for everyones answers!

It's like they think that there's "me" and there's "God" and even if they read in the Bible that God or Jesus lives in them, they still see God/Jesus as something apart from their own selves.

if everything is chance and we evolve how the first cell which is one cell changes into different cell , and how that first cell determines in which direction to multiply , how it determines what is going to be built first and than how it changes from lets say bone to blood or from blood to liver cell, remember at the begining it was only one
before you try to give some explanation let me also ask you this?
are you aware that you see creation in front of your eyes every single day or are you blind in this aspect?

A man was driving west through Arizona on an interstate highway when he looked at his dashboard and saw he was almost out of gas. There were no roadside stations in sight but he needed gas very soon. The next exit was for a small town about 3 miles off the interstate so he took the exit to find gas. It was a cold, wet, windy, winter day and as he traveled down the road to the little town he noticed a young man walking on the side of the road toward the interstate. With little concern he traveled on to the town and filled up his tank.

As he turned and drove back to the interstate he came upon the young man again. He was wearing a light jacket holding his arms close to his chest leaning forward into the freezing wind and rain obviously miserable and cold. As the car approached the young man on the road he just barely put out his left thumb so as to indicate he needed a lift but trying to maintain some body heat.

As the driver passed by the young man something inside him told him to stop. He had never before stopped to pick up anyone like this before. He brought his car to a stop about a quarter mile down the road from the young man. As he turned to look back through the rear windshield he could see the young man running down the road toward his car. Soon the young man was standing at the passenger door looking in the through the window the driver had lowered.

“I sure could use a lift,” said the young man. The driver asked, “which way do you need to go?” The young man replied, “I need to go east. Are you going that way?” The driver hesitated for just a moment and then said, “Yeah. I’m going east. Get in.”

The young man almost jumped into the car. His hair was covered in ice and with the warmth of the car it began to melt and drip from his hair. As the driver pulled onto the road heading back to the highway he asked the young man, “where do you need to go?” He replied, “I’m trying to get to my dad’s house in Virginia”. The driver said, “That’s a long way to hitch hike don’t you think? Why didn’t you call you dad and get some help getting back home?”

The young man replied, “ I haven’t talked to my dad in 5 years. I left home on bad terms with him. I was doing some things I new I shouldn’t do and dad didn’t approve. So I left and said I’m never coming back. Now I’ve lost my job. I’ve lost my girl friend. I have no money, no friends, and no place to live. I don’t have anything left and nowhere to go. I was afraid to call him. What if he said no I can’t come home? Then what would I do? Where would I go? I thought if I can just make it back home maybe I can walk up and knock on his door. Tell him how sorry I am. Maybe he would let me come home.”

The driver pulled his car onto the interstate and headed east retracing the path from which he had just come. The two continued to talk about what had happened in the young man’s life.

As they drove and talked they soon came to a large city. The driver without saying why began following the signs that showed the way to the airport. The young man asked, “Where are we going.” The driver responded, “I’m going to pay for a ticket for you to fly home. You need to be with your dad.” The two went into the airport together where the driver bought the ticket. He handed it to the young man and said, “you’d better hurry you’re going to miss your flight.” The young man hugged the driver and then with tears in his eyes he said, “You know, you didn’t have to do this, did you?”

The driver paused for just a moment and looking back into the young man’s eyes responded, “ Yeah, I think I did.”

I then found myself looking up a the crucified Jesus hanging on the cross looking down into my eyes. I looked up at him acknowledging what He had done for me and with tears in my eyes I said, “You know, You didn’t have to do this, did You?”

Jesus looked directly into my eyes and with a smile responded, “Yeah, I think I did.”
