I come from a christian family with very religous parents that believe in Jesus and God. I am now 17 and have no idea what to believe in. I have no reason to care about Jesus because when is the last time he did something good for me? When was the last time he could prove his existence? If he is still alive and on the "right hand of God" he obviously doesn't give a **** about me.

I have been listening to New Age music lately by people like Enya. It brings me peace and really relaxes me. I don't know much about the "New Age" religon but could anyone here that believes in this please tell me about it. Any Christians can comment to on whatever. I feel New Age may be the answer to everyones search for God and religon??

Tomorrow, I have an interview for a possible full-time Youth Pastor position at a local Baptist church. I just got to thinking...
Would they allow somoene on staff who is married to someone who had gotten a divorce? The reason was, he was not faithful. Maybe one can be youth leader, BUT not ordained?? Any ideas?

i want your honest opinion b/ i'm trying to get an idea of what to expect. there is no need for politeness.

i converted to Islam a few yrs ago. at the time i was dating a man who was "muslim." the day i converted i put on my hijab and told him we couldnt see each other any more the way we had, but we could talk about marriage later. he told me that he would never marry me unless i took off my hijab. he had also hit me and said very degrading things to me that week. so i left him and told him i never wanted to see him again. two months later i found out i was pregnant. b/ he was not a true Muslim and i knew he did not want to get married, i decided we should place the baby for adoption. he agreed and we found a wonderful Muslim family who could not have children and they are raising him. but it is an Islamic adoption so we still see them and they are very kind and helpful to us. i want to get married soon and i'm wondering if you knew a girl who u liked and was a good Muslimah...

But then arises the doubt, can the mind of man, which has, as I fully believe, been developed from a mind as low as that possessed by the lowest animal, be trusted when it draws such grand conclusions?

Saddam guilty ? Justice in the middle east ?

Well the decision handed down today, was that Saddam was found guilty of murdering some 120 innocent people, after an assasination attempt on his life in that area....? The court is suggesting a 'death penality'?

Well where are all the Christians in America, and the religious right that believes that 'thou shalt not kill" ?

Anyway, while we are on the subject of 'innocent people' being killed in the middle east, it is reported that some 200,000 to 400,000 innocent Iraqi's have been killed by the decision to invade that country because Saddam was suppose to have had 'weapons of mass destruction.

Is anyone going to be put on trial for the death of those hundreds of thousands of lives, not to mention the billions in destruction to property.

Imagine if they hang a person for killing a 120 people what the sentence should be for killing hundreds of thousands ?

Where is the real justice and compassion ?

It bothers me when I see it. It's like taking the Christ out of Christmas. I know some will say it's just an abbreviation, but Christmas isn't that long a word. Do you ever see Hanukkah abbreviated Xkah or Ramadan as Xdan? Even if it was an abbreviation, wouldn't "Cmas" be more logical?

Let's say that person was someone from history or anyone who was important and/or famous and you were an exact duplicate of that person, knowing everything that person knew, plus the fingerprints & DNA were exactly the same, & people either believed or disbelieved, what would be your reaction and the reaction[s] of the people?

Quote: To suppose that the eye with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I confess, absurd in the highest degree.

I mean if Jesus promised that man would rise from their tombs, what would be the point of them being in Heaven, would they then have to be expelled from heaven to come back down to their resurrected bodies? That would be ridiculous cause why would one want to be put back on earth if they were in heaven? Any intelligent commentary would be much appreciated.

"Science can purify religion from error and superstition;
religion can purify science from idolatry and false absolutes.
Each can draw the other into a wider world, a world in which both can flourish....
We need each other to be what we must be, what we are called to be.

He's admitted to buying illegal drugs and of soliciting a prostitute.

Should doing the Jimmy "The Crybaby" Swaggart thing be enough?

I'm sure if the tables were turned, he'd expect others to pay for their sins.

I was raised in Truth. With professing family and firends. and am still professing myself although there have been some times when I cose my own way as opposed to Truth and what I knew to be right. Recently my brother who no longer attends meetings or professes was looking for some information on line and found some sites about Truth. Unfrotunately the are very negative. Does anyone out there know of any that are out there that are positive and could be a help?

Civilized people all agree that Murder and rape are evil. This is a basic law of morality. My question was "The Laws of Nature and Laws of Morality were not created by men. So, where do atheists believe they came from?"

Another person answered that they believed that the laws of nature were created by men. But, did not the law of gravity exist before a man said that it did?

Here is the link to the question that had the answers that I am talking about:
