I come from a christian family with very religous parents that believe in Jesus and God. I am now 17 and have no idea what to believe in. I have no reason to care about Jesus because when is the last time he did something good for me? When was the last time he could prove his existence? If he is still alive and on the "right hand of God" he obviously doesn't give a **** about me.

I have been listening to New Age music lately by people like Enya. It brings me peace and really relaxes me. I don't know much about the "New Age" religon but could anyone here that believes in this please tell me about it. Any Christians can comment to on whatever. I feel New Age may be the answer to everyones search for God and religon??

Its to long a story to tell here,I believe "religion" & the Bible have served their purpose and God is already begun to desolve them,we are now into an age of spirituality. "New age" is really the oldest age updated without all the ambiguity caused by God having to communicate with people on their level of understanding.Humanity has grown in awareness and ready to hear more direct truth, such as "GOD DWELLS WITHIN YOU AS YOU". The New Age is largely built on old age religions that Christianity displaced. I was a Christian until my late 20s, when I decided I didn't agree with it. I would caution you not to make any decisions about your religion until you are able to do it calmly. I didn't turn away from Christianity because I was "angry" with God or Jesus, just because I thought they were fine but not for me.

Here are some good sites about the new age religions - Wicca and paganism, specifically. I'm sure there are many more out there, but as a Wiccan this is what I'm familiar with.

http://www.wicca.com/celtic/wicca/wicca.htm

Your path is yours to choose. If you truly want to explore new age religions I wish you well. If you do not, that's fine to. But please do not let anyone convince you that by exploring other paths you will end up in hell. They are fear-mongering, and for all they know you would come back to Christianity on your own anyway if you were free to look into other faiths.

Blessed be. )O(

First, you think things need to be about you or revolve around you and that's not how it works.

Enya isn't going to do anything more for you in REALITY as will God or Jesus. She just puts the 50 cents she makes off the CD you buy into her bank account. But don't expect her to rally for you, come down and bail you out of jail or sing at your birthday parties!

There's nothing wrong with NEw Age anything. If something relaxes you then go with it.

But don't blame the other things in the universe on not responding to you. You have to do things for yourself. You have to earn your own living, pay your own rent, etc.

Neither God, Jesus, Enya nor anyone else will ever help you in those areas!

I grew up in a disfuntional Christian home and decided that the organized church "missed it". So when I left home I began searching for God in new age philosophies and some other non traditional methods.

However, I didn't find God there either. I never gave up completely but I figured God had nothing to do with this life and perhaps when I die I'll figure it out.

But boy was I wrong... you see God loved me and wasn't willing to wait. He spared my life and proved Himself over and over... BUT I WAS BLIND AND DIDN'T SEE IT!

One day when playing with my 5 and 6 year old children my son asked if we could go to church. After much excuses I reluctantly went to an Assembly of God church. It was nothing like I had ever experienced! I began going to church but more importantly I asked Him into my heart.

Since then I have experienced God's presence on a daily basis - through both the good and the bad - He is there!

My suggestion don't stop looking - you'll discover He's been calling you all along!

MT 7:7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

Hooray for Enya! Fiddles and pretty voices for the win! But what does that have to do with religion? Yeah, they have some good music that gets me pumped to take my teaching exams, but that's about it... >_>

It sounds like you're blaming your misfortunes on Jesus. I hate to sound like a jerk, but I'm going to say it... You sound like a typical, frustrated teenager. Let me guess... He took away your happiness? Someone dies and it's not the drunk driver's fault, it's God's. Right? No?

Either way, you're expecting too much. God is not your play-thing, we are His actors on His stage. Since when did the actor boss around the director? If your parents are super-spiritual and what not, I suggest asking them about other religions (as a topic of conversation, for safety's sake) as well as any questions you have regarding Christianity. Alienating yourself from a family that loves you is that last thing you want to do... (Christian or not, a parent's love is like no other).

To extend on what Tony_S said:
MT 7:7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."

In other words, don't give up, even when it seems hopeless; never, ever give up. I forgot where I got this from but, "that which you have sought, so you shall recieve." Funny thing is is that it's true. I wouldn't get it over night, but eventually, when I'd least expect it, I would find it.

new age is teaching things that would lead to the new world religion whih is the devils religion. I was raised in it and yeah it makes you relaxed enough to watch while your soul is stolen. You have had a bad experience with the Church, but remember your church is obviously not a place favored by Jesus perhaps for the same reason you did not like it. Perhaps you are not called and bein a christian is not gonna happen, but I think you owe it to yourself to try a church that fits you or read your Bible and figure things out on your own. You'd be better off as an atheist than as a new ager, their process is to lull you to sleep and into a process where they steal your soul, notice thet say there is no evil only lack of good, your eyes are getting heavy and don't worry evil does not exist. I was in on the ground floor I know.

I'm not an atheist but I know that in the process of denying there is a God you figure out He is there and then you have to actually want to be His friend b4 you get the bennies ya know

I agree with Big Mama.

Don't be bullied into believing something. Do what you think is right, and follow your heart. If that takes time, then shop around and do some research until you find what you truly do believe in. Because Ultimately, if you don't REALLY believe then you're only paying lip service because you've been guilted or shamed into pretending. You'll end up miserable. And why would any god want that for you?

if you consider any large action like an explosion in the silence the type of sign we want from god, then we tend to miss 90% of his signals. God is here with you right now . . .in the silence. if you quite yourself and everything around you no matter how relaxing and get rid of all the preconcieved notions about god you can; you might just experience something that will seem irresistable but challenge you and scare you. God wants to talk to you now. He (sure letes say "he") wants to be with you. Not who you were or could be. He wants you . . .now. Just to be with Him. He brings peace that seriously cannot be explained. i should know i used to be pretty suicidal. So, to fight the cliches, i wont say god loves you. i will say . . . God has an intense burning passion to be with you and take care of you when everything seems to be threatening to overwhelm you or even when it seems you can cope. He wouldnt just die for you, He would live in exile, complete social shame and torture for you. And you can probably guess that is what he did. You have the choices to make, just dont shut out god because he seems old and incorrect. He wouldnt be infinite if that was the case. i am praying that you can know who he really is . . .in truth.
Be safe. I wish you as much love as i know how to muster and give to someone i dont know and have no contact with. :)

New age music can be very pretty, but it's Not at all like New Age thinking. It can lead you down a very wrong path.

Have you not been thankful that God gives us the hope of Eternal Life in Heaven............that he Died for you and everyone that would accept and follow him? To say he has done nothing for you??? ! It should be the other way around.........What have WE done for him? All he wants is us to love him and obey him.

What will New Age do except mix up your mind and get you to doubt God.

If someone is in danger don't they usually call out Oh God , Help Me. They don't say New Age Help Me or Budda Help Me.

If your heart is already hardened you are free to believe like you want, but where will it lead. Again, New Age music usually means just relaxing and new.

Well, since I've played in both fields, I suppose I should speak up. As a matter of fact, I DO have a personal relationship with Jesus. And I wouldn't want to live without Him in my life.

There is much to recommend about the New Age, but you need to be aware that although there is indeed much of interest there, with frequencies, mind improvement, etc, there is also something of the demonic about it. If you want to get into real power using New Age techniques, you will almost certainly run into some powerful aetheric beings, some of whom are not nice. BE CAREFUL.
