I am afraid that my kids are much smarter than I am.

Unless I brain-wash them first?

In my last Yahoo Answers question, we found that the "Rapture", the catching away of the saved to the Lord in the sky and then into heaven occurs at the end of the world (Judgment Day). Many people said in their response that Jesus would come as a "thief in the night." Plz read 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3. But let's read further: "But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief, Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others, but let us watch and be sober."
"Watch", comparing Scripture with Scripture (1 Corinthians 2:13), implies watching for the Master (Christ). We "see" the Lord through the Bible, not through the events occuring in the world. Believers see the Lord because He has opened their spiritual eyes. Lot saw the Lord because he was watching (Gen. 19). See these verses: Mark13:33-37 + 14:38; John 21:36; 2 Thess. 4:5; 1 Peter 4:7

It certainly did not come from the Bible

In the book of Jonah the people of Nineveh sinned against G-d. They repented by fasting, sitting in ashes and asking for forgiveness. As a result they were saved. No sacrifices were brought.

In the book of Esther the Jews sinned. The they repented by fasting, sitting in ashes and asking for forgiveness. As a result they were saved. No sacrifices were brought.

In the case of the Israelites and the sin of the golden calf you see the same thing. All they did was pray and ask for forgiveness. Not a single sacrifice was offered!

Psalms:
5:5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
11:5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
26:5 I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.
31:6 I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.
139:22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

So, what is the true seventh day of rest in the Ten Commandments? Is it Sunday? I have done a lot of research and found that it is actually Saturday, the day the Jewish people rest. Hence the name "Sabbath" meaning Saturday.
Is it wrong if you rest on Sunday rather than Saturday do you think?
If you look into history of a certain church, you will see they in fact changed the Sabbath to Sunday. Isn't this going against God's Sabbath? Did God say, 'OK, go ahead and substitute a day, or change it"? Doesn't the bible say that the Sabbath is a sign between Him and His people?

People seemed pretty divided on this idea in a previous question, and I wanted to give you the opportunity to tell me what you think:

This year I'm going to dress as a fundamentalist baptist minister, and then go around my neighborhood telling little children that they're going to burn in hell for celebrating the devil's holiday.

I'm sure that the parents will know that it's just my costume, and play along. right?

Do you think that the parents will like it?
Did you think I'll get invited to a lot of parties?

Oh, and what are you going to dress up as?

I have asked many christians: "What proof do you have to authenticate christianity?" and they respond that you don't need proof for christianity to be true, all you need is faith.

What my question is, How do you know that your christian faith is correct, and other religions based on faith (like Islam and zoroastrianism), complete with their own miraculous claims and promises of redemption, are false?

I wonder how America itself influences Christians.

Well, I live in France, and really, french Christians don't believe the way american Christians do. Christianity is discrete and more respectful in France.

France is a secular nation. Unless America claims it is secular, I think it actually is christian. "in god we trust" "god bless america" and so on.

In 1995, after a series of secretive meetings, Jerry Falwell, a hypocritical member of the christian right, accepted a 3.5 million dollar donation from the Rev. Sun Myung Moon. This donation was gladly accepted to "save" Liberty University.

Here is one of MANY net links describing this very donation and their relationship. A pic is included-
http://www.freedomofmind.com/stevehassan/presskit/articles/parry1.htm

Rev Moon, is the head of the moonie church. He believes he is the reincarnated Jesus Christ, claims Jesus failed because he didn't procreate, is a sexual pervert, believes America is the reaping of satan's harvest, and supports the Republican party. He is a major global arms dealer! HE ALSO CLAIMS HE IS THE MESSIAH!

Don't you think it's hypocritical for Jerry Falwell to accepted a donation from Rev Moon- a false preacher? OR is it just another example of how low some right wing televangelists will go to get their hands on more precious money?

People think black people are horrible. They aren't though. Black people are people just like white people. I don't understand why some people hate people with other color skin. It is only pigment. What would they do if they were a different racism? People are just really weird sometimes and I really don't understand. And please don't tell me that you are a racist! My dad is a racist and that is mostly what I hate about him. Please please please don't become on and if you are one then please stop!!!!!
