I am afraid that my kids are much smarter than I am.

Yep. Raising children is a form of "brain-washing" because they don't know any better.

"Brainwashing, also known as thought reform or re-education, is the application of coercive techniques to change the beliefs or behavior of one or more people usually for political or religious purposes."

Coercive can mean a reward/punishment system rather than the rack. Kids can do it to their parents but parents are in a better position to "reform" a children's thoughts. Just be a firm but fair parent and they will see it your way.

Your question is a great example of what goes wrong on this site alot. You give just enough info to put us on the edge of our seat in curiousity. But what exactly the details are and what your asking is known only by the supreme power, the sacred mystery, the grand emperor of the universe.

Brain-washing has nothing to do with religion. Perhaps you and your children should share the word together. The oucome will be very promising in serving the Lord.

Are they holding you at gunpoint and forcing you to listen to Christian rock and read passages out of the Bible? Why do people always associate it with brainwashing, only Fundamentalists try that approach I believe...and it's obvious that you have no kids by the way, just a lonely smart *ss Atheist;)

What a dumb question. You're kids must be smarter then you. Why don't you just say you're not interested, and no one needs to do any brain washing. ~

You should have a strong enough spirit that no one can brain-wash you unless you allow it. You must be on the right way of thinking...because you are aware that something must be going on. Unless you are open to their suggestions....why don't you just politely let them know that you can respect their views on religion...and would they just please respect yours.

Let Jesus do the brain washing for them or you.

Are they brain washing you? Probably, but it doesn't sound like it would take much to do the job!

My gf just went thru this with her adult son, he changed religions so he could marry his gf. Tell him that you are happy that he found a religion that gives him comfort, but that you found god long before he did and that you are happy.

Just know that your kids love you and want to make sure that they are with you forever in Heaven. They don't want you to go to hell and be in pain. You should thank them, instead of trying to change them.
