"Do you think you are going to go to Heaven when you die?"

The Good News - How to be saved from Hell. Answer

How do you know the Bible is true? Answer

Response to 'Do you think you are going to go to Heaven?' How does your response compare?

* Yes (55%)
* Hope so - Not sure (35%)
* Going to hell (4%)
* There is no heaven (6%)

If you know you are going to Hell, or if you deny there is any Heaven or Hell, we strongly urge you to consider your situation very carefully. We are convinced that Hell is a very real place. See why, and learn why you will want to avoid it at all costs. We know the topic is unpleasant, but this issue is much too important to ignore.

* Is there an actual place called “Hell”?
* Why was Hell made?
* Is there anyone in Hell today?
* Will there literally be a burning fire in Hell?
* What should you be willing to do to stay out of Hell?
* How can a God of love send anybody to Hell?
* What if I don't believe in Hell?

Beware, although most people say “yes” or “I think so” when asked “Are you going to Heaven?”, many are sadly incorrect about their ultimate destination. Most believe they qualify for Heaven because of one of the following wrong reasons.

I'm basically a good person "I'm basically a good person" (60%)
When you say you believe you are a pretty decent person, keep in mind that it is because you are comparing yourself on man's scale, not on God's. If you compare yourself to Hitler or Charles Manson, certainly you seem to be "good". But what if you compared yourself to Mother Teresa? Most people fall somewhere in the middle of these two extremes.

The Bible teaches that no one is good (Romans 3:10). Not you. Not me. Not Mother Teresa. Not the Catholic saints. Not even the Prophets God sent to earth in centuries past. Only God is good. (Luke 18:18-20)

Do you realize that it is impossible for a good, holy, perfect, truthful God to have in His presence anyone who has even made one mistake? Since that is the case, we have a problem: how can we come to live with a Holy God?

I haven't harmed anybody "I've never hurt anyone" (2% response)
Are you sure you've never hurt anyone? Have you considered the things you speak to others? Jesus warns in Matthew 5:21-22 that even being unjustly angry with someone puts you in danger of judgment. Also, how many people have you hurt because of things you failed to do?

I try to keep the 10 Commandments "I've tried to keep the 10 Commandments" (5%)
First, take a look at this before answering:
What does God expect of me?

Now can you honestly say you've never lied--even a "little white lie"? Never stolen--even just a paper clip? Perhaps you've never committed adultery in the physical act, but did you know that Jesus said that lusting after someone is the same to God?

If you've broken even just one law one time, that makes you a lawbreaker. If you will listen, your own conscience will tell you that you are certainly a law breaker.
See: Am I good enough for heaven?

I go to church "I go to church" (8%)
Going to church is a good thing. (See >> Why should Christians go to church? and >> How can I find a good church?) But if you think that just going to church is good enough to earn your way to heaven, take a look at Romans 3:27 and Ephesians 2:8. These passages are clear that nothing we can do on earth (like trying to go to church to gain merit with God) can make us righteous in His never-failing sight.

Jesus had strong words for the Pharisees of His day. They tried to merit favor with God by acting religious. But Jesus called them "a brood of vipers". See also Matthew 9:11, 12:39, 16:1-4; Luke 7:39, 18:11.

I believe in God "I believe in God" (10%)
Perhaps you think that belief in God is good enough to get you to heaven. But consider this: since Satan and his demons believe that God is real, does that mean they too will be in heaven? (James 2:19) See also Romans 1:20.

I've done the best I could "I've done the best I could" (15%)
Maybe you have tried to do the right thing for the most part. You've made some mistakes, and if God weighs your good deeds vs. your bad deeds, you hope you will come out ok. Again, we have the problem that if you have only sinned once in your life, you've still broken God's law and are a lawbreaker. God sees our righteousness as "filthy rags". When we think of God's standard of holiness, we don't even come close! (See >> How good is good enough?)

We have all broken God's laws and stand guilty before a holy God.

Just as a human judge must enforce justice and punish evildoers, God, who is completely just, holy and righteous, must also punish sin.

Is there a tendency towards religious belief that is inherently strong in some people and weak or non-existent in others, or are our worldviews influenced largely by the environment we grow up in - family, society, the media and so on?

Ok, here's what happened. I live in the southern states where we're born and raised very patriotic and thats just how it is. I mean, I may not agree with everything my government leaders do and think that they are total a** holes sometimes but I LOVE my country (USA). Anyway, I was at my boyfriends house (he lives w/ his mom) and he has several generations living in his house. His mom was born and raised here, but his step-dad is a big city slicker from New York but had rather be living in some European country and thinks its completely better over there. Well, at the dinner table he was talking politics and was really putting the US down and I just couldn't help quoting Merle to him.....
"I hear people talkin' bad,
About the way we have to live here in this country,
Harpin' on the wars we fight,
An' gripin' 'bout the way things oughta be.
An' I don't mind 'em switchin' sides,
An' standin' up for things they believe in.
When they're runnin' down my country, man,
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me."
lol, was that wrong of me? I made his grandpa crack up because he's a country boy through and through and I think he was getting annoyed at his son in law also. I even made my bf's mom laugh, and the only person who didn't was his step-dad. But I couldn't help it. Would you have quoted Merle to? I just wanted to get my point across in a funny way....do you think I did?

I'm asking you to give me everything you own. Jesus says in Matthew 5:42:

"Give to him who asks you, and don't turn away him who desires to borrow from you."

So, I'm asking...so you have to give. Just throw everything you own into a river or ocean, and I trust that Jesus will bring it to me. Thank you. God bless.

NOTE: If you don't do what I ask, you have proven that you are not a real Christian, and Jesus will tell you what he says in Matthew 7:21-23:

21) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

OH THAT'S RIGHT I JUST OWNED YOU. GIVE ME EVERYTHING YOU OWN RIGHT NOW. THANKS.

I saw the film when it came out - boot leg - I wasn't going to pay for what I surmized would be trash. And I was correct, violent, anti semetic (and I am an athiest) and just a lust fest for violence and blood. You learned nothing about christ, other than Hollywood can whip a man til he loses so much blood he, even Christ, couldn't have gotten up. This may be an old issue (film wise), but there are just some things the American public get all head up about that I find to be non-issues. The film should have been called 'Slashing of the Dumb American Wallet'.
I think all who paid to see that filth should send Mel Gibson a bill, with interest, since he became close to a billionaire for that garbage...

Say you were a psychriatrist, you had a patient that believes that Mary or Jesus comes to him/her occasionally. Would this be considered a disorder? Or is there some kind of procedure to avoid these situations so that the psychiatrist does not diagnose the person because they are religious? I would suppose that there are religious psychiatrists out there, but say, from all psychiatric training, this would usually lead to a mental disease or disorder?

This is a harmless question, and I am not saying that religious people are psychotic, please do not answer rudely. Thank you.

Did i offend you if you were a christian?
If so what makes you think that i'm not offended when you call me a non-beleiver?
Yes, i don't beleive in god but....
Christianity does not use LOGIC it uses FAITH.
LOGIC and FAITH are two diffrent things
logic is using facts and evidence to come to a conclusion.
faith is simply beleiving in something regardless of anything else.
If you are going to keep calling my a non-beleiver then I am going to keep calling you illogical.

Did you know that God loves you and wants to have an ongoing relationship with you - one in which you both talk to and listen to Him? One in which you allow Him to be a part of your life decisions? He wants you to experience an abundant life [John 10:10], which He knows can be found only in Him. He wants you to be set free - free from your past, from guilt and shame, from bondage to sin, from addiction, from selfishness.

Dear fellow brothers and sisters;Thank you for your sincere answers to my Q;Muhammud,Ishmael !I have another Question for you; What happens to the spirit of a young man when he is taken away from his Father (Abraham),replaced by another son (Isaac) and I would suggest, poisened by his mother Hagar. How would this catastrophic event in a boys life effect his ability to believe as his father Abraham must have instructed him in his youth. Would not a hardening of his heart and mind occur, even though his belief in God remains intact and strong, his ability to believe as his father had instructed him had been torn out of him. His Spiritual Foundations have been hardened ! I am not saying these words to offend , but for us all to over come !
