I saw the film when it came out - boot leg - I wasn't going to pay for what I surmized would be trash. And I was correct, violent, anti semetic (and I am an athiest) and just a lust fest for violence and blood. You learned nothing about christ, other than Hollywood can whip a man til he loses so much blood he, even Christ, couldn't have gotten up. This may be an old issue (film wise), but there are just some things the American public get all head up about that I find to be non-issues. The film should have been called 'Slashing of the Dumb American Wallet'.
I think all who paid to see that filth should send Mel Gibson a bill, with interest, since he became close to a billionaire for that garbage...

I agree with the person asking the question. The movie was bad, it gave us no insight on Jesus, it just focused on his death. It was violent, unnecessarily gory, and very anti-semitic. Plus the movie had bad acting.

people have each and every good to have a good time! We Canadians do seem down our noses at American hockey yet is fairly it particularly works both ideas. even as crew Canada beat crew u . s . a . in Olympic Baseball, it became an analogous element, we celebrated over what became particularly a not something sport. It became the theory that we had overwhelmed the staggering that became so electric powered. i am going to work out precisely why the U. S. followers are on cloud 9, i might want to be too! Congratulations to crew u . s . a . for the win. We couldn't beat you that nighttime! I do take exception to aybee27's comments, even if i do not recognize if he's a troll or a extreme member of Y!A asserting that Canadians are a set of arrogant jerks or in spite of. I genuinely have purely one element to assert about that. howdy Aybee, how ignorant/arrogant are people even as it contains Canadian football? you opt for Canadians to commence being attentive to American hockey and supplies you up searching down on it? then you could initiate observing the CFL! If that would not supply you the outcomes you want, then conflict through in silence because you particularly do not make your self seem smart with comments like that. people are the perfect people in the international who should be calling others arrogant.

I'm a Christian and I didn't see it. Some people I know did see it and thought it was pretty close to what the Bible (New Testament) story of Jesus. I also heard it was pretty gory, but I think His death was too. I may watch it one day, who knows. I'm not a big Mel Gibson fan.

I take it your -really- open-minded about this question ;-)

First, it was not anti-semitic. Jesus and his disciples were all Jews. If we were to translate for our times, it would be a case of a few Americans being persecuted for their beliefs by the American government and the people the government whipped up into a frenzy (think of McCarthyism).

What made the movie was the graphic and biblically-accurate depiction of what Jesus went through to remain true to his teachings.

Rant all you want, it is inspirational for anyone who has felt unjustly persecuted for remaining true to their beliefs.

I think Mel Gibson bashing is in style this month, it was a very moving movie to me, but from what you say, it makes me wonder what you'd pay to see or get, since I "did" pay to see it, I figure I have a right to my thoughts, as you do,since i figure you're probally using the library's or a friends computer

There wasn't anything earth-shattering about it. It is one of the most violent films I have ever seen, and if it had been any other character than Jesus on that cross, the film would have been NC-17.

To me as a christian, even though I know Jesus was treated the way He was, beaten, and hung on that cross for me.
It really brought it home. I thank Mel for having the guts to make this movie, and hope he turns his life around, but more I pray for you. I know you will say don't pray for me, but I do.
Also just before Jesus died on the cross, He asked, Father forgive them for they know not what they do.

I AM the I AM. Any more proof needed.
I thought not.

Obviously you don't have a relationship with God because if you did you would spend the entire time watching the film sobbing and apologizing to God for all your sins, like I did. That movie was life changing.

Didn't see it. I was in protest mode that day. To much hype. The ads were aimed at makeing you feel guilty if you didn't go see it. All the "good Christians" went so I stayed home.
