perchance, are you a non-tub-thumper? this may explain your perception of an intelligent answer. many people ask a question, but in fact it is rhetorical, (especially in this section!) and if you see an answer that is agreeable with your own values or beliefs, then logic would suggest that you see a fellow intellectual lol!
However, if you are a tub-thumper and are open minded enough to see the intelligence present in the opposite camp, then it may be that your fellow thumpers are in fact as thick as two short planks.

Tub Thumpers???? Are you confused and really mean Bible Thumpers????
Or do you mean those Bible Thumpers who jump on an upside down tub to broadcast their Bible Thumping as loudly, and most visibly as possible???
If so, you are correct. They can thump pretty well on a tub where they can wave their hands around and project different pitches into their voice, but they cannot translate all this sound and fury to the printed word, so they are not in their element here and probably sound stupid.

i'm going to take a wild guess and say that a "tub-thumper" is someone who emphasises baptism as one of the only ways to get to heaven? i'm not sure that i have the answer to your question, sorry...
