I'm raised in an athiest/ agnostic family, and I don't mind this. I myself am an agnostic, but I want to attend churches of different denominations, as I am open-minded and want to have the experience of going to church. I am not old enough to drive myself places, and i'm not even in 8th grade. My mom did this when she was younger, as her family moved to different places and tried many different churches of different denominations. I think this would be a good experience for me, but I don't think my mother would take me, and my dad definetly wouldn't either. what do i do? should I go? please, don't try to convert me online. Leave that to the REAL preachers.

What does it mean to be dead?

As a Catholic, I was taught and have come to believe that death of the body is not really "death", as "death" is permanent. We are taught, and I have come to believe, that there is life in the spirit after death of the body, and that the body will be raised again. Therefore, are the saints and Mary dead?

Ok, so i'm not a deeply religious person. I pray, go to church every once in awhile. But why do people feel the need to bash religion, or those who practice it? I mean just because you don't like or agree with something/someone doesn't mean you can't show respect...

...all religions that i've studied are beautiful, and peaceful. The teach tolerance, peace, and understanding. They appeal to the better parts of human nature (from what I've gathered). So I ask again, why the need to attack and/or belittle any established religion?

I think that it has pathetic pictures in it. There is a picture of satan tempting christ and it just looks ridiculous. The picture is just a sinister looking bald man showing another man a card trick. Jesus appears to have no face or hands in the picture.

Other than that I like the Good News Bible!

The biblical Elhanan was the son of Jaareoregim. He was a member of King David's elite fighters known as The Thirty.

In (II Samuel 21:19) he is credited as the killer of Goliath, though the King James Version of the Bible adds the phrase "the brother of" before Goliath's name, in order to avoid contradicting the better-known story that David killed the Philistine champion. The insertion is justified by a reference in Chronicles to Elhanan having killed Goliath's brother.

Some modern scholars argue that the text in Samuel represents the original form of the story, and that the victory over Goliath was later credited to David in order to enhance his reputation. They argue that other aspects of the text point to this alteration, since Saul is supposed to have asked who the killer was, despite being already acquianted with David.

Biblical literalists assert that the omission of "brother of" in Samuel is likely to be a transcription error.

My children from a previous relationship attend church with their grandmother and sometimes with me, if they ask me to go. Their aunt has said to me in the past that I cannot push my beliefs onto my children. Isn;t that what church is also, and why would there be a problem with them learning about atheism? What exactly is so threatning about it?

You are a liar, Adulterer at heart, Thief, Blasphemer and etc.
Christ is the answer. What ever happened to you in the past. No matter what you've done or said. Jesus will forgive you if you repent and put you trust in him. He is able to restore the brokenness in your spirit. And take away the pain in your life. And grant you eternal life throughout Heaven. You should try him. You have nothing to lose and all else to gain. you must be sincere.

Holy Bible, read it.

I don't want to point fingers in this, and I hope that no one does so in their answers. I seriously wish that everyone could just realise that we are all unique and loved in our own way. I wish we could respect each other's beliefs and be tolerant of those different from us.

Tolerance doesn't mean sacrificing your beliefs - it's just letting those different from you believe what they believe without trying to force your beliefs on them. Why is it so hard for some people to accept others for who they are and to just be tolerant, loving, and kind?

I went and looked through a "Christian" poster in here's history of questions. She has asked very pointed questions about gays condeming their lifestyle with Biblical quotes in the gay section of Y!A. Why is it so hard for some people to just let others be? So what if someone believes they are wrong, or sinners. It's not their duty to correct them. I thought it was the "Holy Spirit" who was supposed to convict others - not us...
