The comments i've heard from Christians about Atheists were totally false.

Do they feel that's the only way to stop us?

examples of lies about Atheists

Something bad happen to us that caused us to become Atheists
We're bitter
We're angry
We are in deneil
We have no values or standards
We can't be happy
We must be sad
We must feel terrible about the after life

It's pretty clear that Christians are way off base about Atheists

They disobeyed God by eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (Right and Wrong). So, yes… Right?
Just one problem. How could Adam and Eve have been expected to comprehend the implications of their actions if, prior to their indiscretion, they had no concept of wrong, evil, punishment, suffering, pain, and death? Even if God had been successful in adequately explaining all of these concepts and the distinction between right and wrong to them beforehand, this means that he would have had to have given them knowledge of good and evil anyway, which turns this entire story into one big ridiculous farce.
Doesnt it?

some intellectual answers. I was raised Catholic, changed to Episcopalian (yes, similar) -- both of which are Christian groups. I am 48 years old. I believe in God/Jesus because I was TAUGHT that is what I should do. Ok, so there are a LOT of religions out there - different beliefs, different "BOOKS" (like the bible) and others believe different. I know a person who "studys religion" meaning EVERY religion and he gets a little out of all of that and does not belong to any particular church. Don't you think that is smart? I do. For the Christians out there, why do you believe in the Bible alone when there are SO MANY "writings" that exist in the world? If you were raised Jewish, you would believe in the Jewish faith. Correct? So we believe in what we are taught - the way WE were raised. If your answer is "because that is what the Bible says" THEN WHY don't you open your mind to see what the other "books" say? You would possibly change your thoughts on certain things. (Terrorism aside)

Well, there are a few other question about afterlife on here, but I'd like to ask one of my own. For information, I myself am agnostic. However, I have one friend who calls himself a "militant atheist" and another who is a Christian. We were discussing an afterlife, and the atheist pointed out that people want to believe in an afterlife because it is comforting to them; it is frightening to believe that nothing happens after you die. It's better to believe that you will have this wonderful eternal existence with all of your loved ones after life. My Christian friend basically agreed with this, and said that it was comforting for her to believe that after she dies, she'll be with her family again, etc.

My main question is: what is so scary about just dying? Personally, I'd be more frightened to believe in an afterlife because there's the chance of not going to heaven. But in any case, I don't understand why people want so badly to believe their is "life after death"?

I am curious to what people think it means to Live Life in Truth. I know what it means to me. I would like to share my opinion but I feel that may influence the direction or thought path that one will take when asking themselves this.

I wish you all well and challenge each and evey person to Life Life in Truth! Our words and actions are like drops of water, they have profound ripples that travel great distances. Many times effecting people we dont even know in ways we are never aware of.

The world could use a few more people living in truth, can you imagine what the world would be like if we all did?

God Bless.

I believe you can achieve heaven right now while you're on Earth. It's progressing your spirit and soul to higher levels of consciousness through state of mind. Universal laws teach us about life, many factors of physics imply this. I believe in God and I believe in the science of it. The science is never taught in the Bible. The science of it can't be denied, God's word can't be denied either. I believe in both. God made science! Anyone agree with this philosophy?

It would seem that God the Father and Jesus Christ are two separate Beings--even the prophet Stephen saw Christ and His Father standing next to each other (with Christ on the right) when he was stoned to death as a martyr (Acts 7:55-56).

I was once told that the odds of Evolution occuring were roughly the equivalent of placing a watchin in a bag, nailing it w/ a hammer, and after shaking the bag a million times, one shake would place all the pieces back together in their original watch format. There is no doubt these are very small odds, but the question is, what origin belief do you subscribe to? Evolution? Creationism(Intelligent Design)? or Panspermia (the belief that life on earth is the result of an extraterrestrial meteor carrying single celled organisms crash landing in the primordial soup, thus evolving into us)?

If you believe a species can make a series of small evolutionary changes, what prevents those steps, other than God preventing it, from potentially turning into a major (macro) evolutionary change?
The only rational conclusion I can come up with is that either God has a problem with macroevolution and prevents what would otherwise happen or Man has a problem with the implications of it (ie. man from monkey) and thus denies it.
Did I answer my own question? Or are there other thoughts.

I'm thinking of babies who die before they can ever commit a sin. What happens if they grow up in Heaven to be total deliquents and start tearing the place up? Can God send them to Hell? Or is it "what happens in Heaven stays in Heaven"?
