Why do Christians lie on Atheists or say things about us without confirmation from us?

The comments i've heard from Christians about Atheists were totally false.

Do they feel that's the only way to stop us?

Something bad happen to us that caused us to become Atheists
We're bitter
We're angry
We are in deneil
We have no values or standards
We can't be happy
We must be sad
We must feel terrible about the after life

It's pretty clear that Christians are way off base about Atheists

For one, I am Christian and I just don't see how anyone can deny God is real. I guess I probably would say atheists are bitter, angry, in denial, etc. but I wouldn't say that they are they are that way all the time. It's just that without believing in God, your Creator, how can you have any hope in your life? What would you do if a doctor told you that you had a week to live and there was no medicine or anything they could do to help you? You seriously would just sit there with no hope in God to heal you? I guess that just seems like a sad way to live.

Unfortunately, I must say that I have heard other christians say those same things about christians who do not follow that christians OWN faith.

It is sad that people claim to be christian, but cannot live in the world with everyone else.

I would suppose it is a way for them to confirm their own faith to themselves. I guess I know what I believe and what my own belief is, that I am not a person that has to put down others to make myself feel better. I am christian, and know that my own faith is not to judge others, or try to justify why others do not believe the way I do.

This is a big world and we all need to live in it together, no matter what our religious beliefs, political views, scientifical beliefs, etc.

Yes, actually. Some atheists assert that there are no deities, while others lack an active belief in deities.

The difference between Strong and Weak Atheism is key here.

Some might disagree with this claim, so to assert it as fact is contentious and something for debate rather than as something everyone can agree with.

Maybe for the same reason so many atheists make generalized statements about Christians.

Atheists are some of the most religious people I know.The only difference is that their religion preaches that there is no God,and they are adamant that all other humans are made aware of their beliefs,and hopefully will join and attempt to reach others.

If Christians lie, they are not being very good Christians, Christians should help other people overcome thier weaknesses.
But Christians are also telling you the truth when they say, you won't find what you are searching for if you don't seek God.

What makes you an atheist? People have opinions on many different religions or the lack there of but explain to me what your definition of atheist is and we can dialog..It is definitely a good question...

Yes, sadly, some christians are really way off base about athiests. then there are those fundamentalists who like fundamentalist muslims think everybody should be forced to change to their own warped view of religion.
