would you rather give him / her money than food? I pass through this beggar everyday as i go to school. I don't know how to approach him or even how to react, whenever he extends his hand for alms.

talk about giving fish and teaching them to fish..

....your local police department come out in full force?

Apparently here in Las Vegas, to get the attention of few police cruisers and a few helicopters, it just takes one kid with a can of spray paint writing graffiti on a wall.

Dispatch:
"We have a casino robbery on Las Vegas and Main and a kid destroying property on Maryland and Trop."

Cruiser:
"Copy, we'll take the kid. Send a chopper out on him..."

There have been a number of segments on TV here in Australia lately about Americans being ignorant of geography/having poor general knowledge etc. I went on youtube and googled "stupid Australians" and came up with a few segments almost identical to those airing here, but with Australian people instead of Americans (note, some of them were not actually Australian people, but people putting on accents etc or from NZ and Britain).

These segments had watermarks which suggested they were actually aired on TV at some point, in the US, not just vids made for Youtube.

SO: are these segments common in the US, too? If so, do they only make fun of Aussies? And, finally, is it really that hard to tell our accents from Brits or Kiwis??

I was reading an ad in a magazine that said 4000 kids in third world countries die a day from dirty drinking water. Another commercial said so many thousand kids are dying from something else. I am fully aware that a lot of kids die daily in tehse countries, but are these high numbers realistic? Anyone know?

Everytime I watch the news or some American talk show a comment such as 'we are Americans how can this happen to us' is said.. or something along those lines.. What is so special about Americans? The rest of the world (may be a surprise to some) are human as well.

Ok well i have blonde hair, and a lot of peoples 1st impression of me is that i am stupid. I dont act dumb or anything for them to make this assumption. I do have common sense, but so many people on these yahoo answers (mostly brunnette people, im not trying to stereotype here but its often true) consider themselves smart because of their hair color! are you kidding? how many others feel offended by these kind of people automatically considering themselves smart because of their hair color?

and using other excuses for kids and themselves such as "it is only natural" or "it is only human" or "mistakes happen" for lack of self control and negligible behavior?

do you think they give excuses like that for their children's irresponsible behavior and are ok with it if they do get into drugs, sex or alchol during their teenage years eventually?

is that why kids easily nowadays get into drugs, alcohol and sex (become skanks, sluts and man whores) at their early teens since they are not reprimanded when they are young and think they can get away with it ?

is this a pattern of parents screwin up themselves at their young age and just ok with it when their children do it instead of standing up and stopping it?

If someone came up to you and gave you the option to either be straight or gay, would you decide to be gay? And this is assuming that you are straight to begin with.

Just curious to find out if anyone on YA has ever asked a question and had been given such horribly wrong advice (and you heeded it). If so what happened??

I've read some answers to questions that truly shock me. Some of the info given is almost cruel, and sometimes harmful to the parties involved.

Has this happened to you personally?

Dogs are animals. As human beings we eat animals. We might not eat dogs but we do eat beef, chicken, pork, fish, and many other types of animals.
Is it not something wrong with the fact that some people care more about their dogs than they do about the homeless children on the street. Some people openly state that they would rather have a dog than a child.
Aren't children the blessing of life? Aren't animals what God gave to Adam to keep him company, busy, and occupied. Was not a human given to Adam because animals were not enough.
So, where in life have people grown to love animals more than they love their neighbors.
Think of Michael Vick. He is losing his freedom behind an animal. He killed dogs. Not people, dogs. How can Michael Vick lose his job, freedom, and respect by killing dogs and some man or officer across town gets respect for killing a person that they "thought" would harm them?
Why is the world becoming so passionate over dogs?

This isn't really a question, its more of a statement.

Please don't judge people by the piercings or tattoos they have, I know alot of people that are all tatted up and are goooood people...most of them I know from church, and they are proud of their tattoos ! I have my lip pierced twice, and I'm a leader at a bible study....and people feel the need to see me as a bad person, just because of some piercings. The only reason I'm saying this is because someone asked a question about if they should or shouldn't let their daughter get her lip pierced...along with it they put people down, just because they had piercings!! Also 30 + answers were from people PUTTING PEOPLE DOWN ACCORDING TO THE WAY THEY LOOK!!!!

Seriously stop, Don't judge people by the way they look. =):

Working with the general public is so hard! There are so many people that I just want to run and hide from, or slap across the face. What do you do to keep yourself being nice? How do you keep rude customers from stealing your joy?

Decadence is a difficult word to use since it has become little more than a term of abuse applied by critics to say anything they do not yet understand or which seems to differ from their moral concepts. – Hemingway—

Or is it the emo, punk,&rock that has evolved them to wear tight skinny jean pants. Just wondering of curiousity what many of you people think. I see young guys wearing girl jeans at times, some wearing long thin earring in one ear. And some wearing make-up now and painting their nails black, and last of all......straightening their hair?.. Sure we're used to guys putting gel and mouse on their hair evey morning. But imagine a guy every morning standing in the mirror straightening their hair... kind of weird to me? And no men that do stuff like this are not gay, nor do I have anything against them. But I remember how in the old days men used to be more civilized and tough and we still have some guys like that but only a few, because of our young generation that is still growing.
