Well I was wondering, all of the time now when i say anything that happens to be true and also about blacks or any ethnic group people say I am racist.

Like i said that: In prisons, the majority of inmates are black. People then call me racist. It is the truth. Where I live 87 percent of the prison population is black, and they make up only 10 percent of the normal population. It costs 67000 to pay for one prisoners upkeep per year. They are wasting a lot of our countries money, I dont understand why I should be victimised for telling the truth. Its not like I am the criminal here, it is the black people that are in jail. They commited the crimes, if they have such a big problem with me saying the truth then they shouldnt commit crimes, because then I cannot say it. So yeah, what are your thoughts on this, am i allowed to say things like this, why or why not? Also shoud black people have to take a course that is designed to break there cycling of offending. It is not discriminatory

Do you think that everyone should be modest? And I don’t mean just the way we dress but in the way we talk also. I dress pretty modest but I am working on the talking part. Please, I want opinions. Not stupid answers that has not point to it. But if you want the 2 points, I don’t care!

BTW what I mean by modest doesn't mean I dress from head to toe with clothing. I mean like wearing long enough skirts and shirts that are not too tight and don't show cleavage. =)

This is just confusing the hell out of me. I have literally read 10 posts in just the last 30 minutes in which non-Americans claim to know exactly what Americans are like and exactly what we do, and exactly what we think. I am even speaking of non-Americans who have never visited America! It is ridiculous. I'm pretty shocked by it, actually.

I would never presume to know what people from other nationalities think and feel. I would never presume to know what they hold dear to them. I would never presume to know their values. It is a shame that so many people like to "rag" on Americans for really, no good reason at all. It's just stereotypes. I don't buy into stereotypes. It's ignorant to do so... and I'm not ignorant, contrary to what most people seem to think on this forum (since I'm an American). :-(

I have been reading posts here and there just for fun, as I'm a little bored on a muggy Thursday night in Atlanta, GA. I happened to stumble upon some posts that I found quite interesting.

Someone had posed the question "Do British men like American girls?" I was surprised at the answers! So many people seemed to answer the poor girl with (uncalled for) animosity. Many stereotyped Americans to be loud, obnoxious, greedy, fat... all kinds of insulting stereotypes. I was actually a little offended and surprised.

Why are Americans stereotyped in this way? And even if we happen to speak in a louder tone etc., isn't this just a cultural difference? Something that is accepted here? Just because it is not common to speak at higher volume in other countries doesn't mean that it's "obnoxious", right? Just a cultural difference?

I think there are probably obnoxious people in all countries, outgoing or shy people in all countries, and people to admire or avoid in all countries!

Im not filipino. But when I see their pictures on the Net, they have the face of an angel. Im not posting this question to offend other Asian races, because ALL of them are beautiful. Im just saying that Filipinos have a different beauty to them instead of China, Japan, Korea because they kind of look the same. What do you think? Agree or Disagree. I mean if you look at the British Empire, Spanish Empire, Portuguese, Dutch etc they all conqered, but how come Italians never done anything like this, i mean they were the Romans right? so how come they didnt manage to get another Empire? or is it that Romans were different to Italians & the Roman mentallity just vanished and therefore Italians are another breed altogether.

There's been a guy I've met in 8th grade who turned out to be one of the most annoying ppl I've ever met. He has to turn every conversation into a debate and has a quick mouth, while I'm more on the talk less-do more personality side. He and I have been academic competitors from the start but he's always taken the competition so personal as to turn it into a grudge with me. I've developed a hatred for his arrogant demeanor and difficulty of personality (we really don't click at all - I can't even stand looking at him). After 10th grade, he went to a different school and I was relieved, but now I found that he is going to the same college as I am. How should I deal with this situation in college as I want to put the past behind me and move on but stupid fate or something else keeps on putting me and him on the same track. It seems like I can never get away from him. I don't want to talk with him, but I fear in college he'll continue to hold a stupid grade school grudge.
