I know it was dangerous ,I'm mad at how America is being controlled by the media. Why are there all these cliques all these things .Why can't we live in freedom .Without all these rules and stereotypes and stuff .Now corporate America is using songs about love and peace for commercialism .Why do we have to dress a certain way,or never explore and overcome fears.

First my question was as " is there anyone who wants to bring the hippie era back " but that sounded a bit stupid so I changed it

I do live in a peaceful community. University City, Missouri, is multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, and quite content to be so. But that's not what most of your "details" are about.

The control of the media, and of cliques and fads and fashions, is a control you can resist. Don't buy your clothes at the mall, buy them where you can get what you want to wear, or make them if you can't find what you want. You can explore your fears and your values, your skills and interests, anything you want.

You have a great deal more freedom than you apparently realize, if you only take courage and grasp it. Forget what others tell you is "cool." Throw away your television set, and resolve to choose your books and magazines, your CDs and DVDs, with real care.

Be choosy. You have the right.

That is the way of the market. It would be nice to live in peace with our fellow humans, but it will be long before that ever happens. I have asked a similar question about war. I understand we are violent, but we are also readily available for a quick fix. Quick doesn't fix. Anyway, that's beside the point. If you read, there's a book you should check out that will help you understand the way the market works and how it sells rebellion back to future generations as the new conformity.
