What type of impression do you receive of someone who turns his music and bass up as he sits next to you at a red light? The music isn't intolerably loud, but the thumping bass and words to the song are readily noticeable. How do you feel?

First, that this person has no concept of respect for others. If the thumping bass and words to the song are readily noticeable, this IS intolerably loud. (I wasn't aware of any 'song', though, with thumping bass in which the words were noticeable...:)
Second, this person is not a very safe driver, as there could be an emergency vehicle that he would not be aware of, also there could be a problem with his own vehicle that he would not be aware of due to the volume of noise he is creating.
Third, I must wonder if this person has some acceptance or self-confidence issues that causes him to need to broadcast himself so intrusively and rudely to force others to notice him.

I usually look at the driver, then look at his $4,000 rims on his $500 POS car and laugh at them....as I sit listening to all the metal and trim vibrating like it is nearly ready to fall off.

Bout the same as some 28 year old guy who thinks it is still the late 90's or early 2000's and The Fast and Furious street racing cars with the little loud mufflers are still "cool".

Funny thing is they have no performance enhancement under the hood...just lots of stickers, and a loud muffler that gets louder as they take off, yet they do not get any faster. LOL.

Especially, the guys in the wrecked out Civics, Eclipses CRX's etc, that are all perpetually primered like they will EVER make enough at Wal Mart to actually paint it to look good. And even if they DO, no one is impressed, that era is WAY over... LMAO.

But, back to your question, I think it is most amusing that they try and draw attention to themselves, when they are really total idiots. I just laugh at them really. What else CAN you do? LOL

It depends on the music...I guess it says "notice me" in a way...if I like the music, and if I like the guy...I will notice believe me.

I just think it's someone having fun...that's all...I do the same thing!

What a bunch of party poopers you all are....

When I'm with my kids we not only crank it up but we SING and blow the beans out of anyone around us...they don't like it tuff SH*T....most times we get a lot of smiles however.

I obviously don't do that at night or anything stupid like that...but its a free world last time I looked, and I'd rather hang with the partygoers than party poopers.

I especially love the frowners...I just crank it up and sing even louder...love to watch them drive away...(into a ditch that is).

(PS 40+ and I can still hear your fart two houses down)

I feel like lowering my window and asking him to turn in down since no one should be forced to listen to his music--even though you can't even hear anything but the bass! Although that's what I FEEL like doing, I would never since (and this is horribly prejudiced) the person obviously has no consideration for others and is just looking for attention so they may start problems if I were to even look at them the wrong way.

In any case--- VERY ANNOYING!!! To anyone reading this who does play their "music" too loud:::STOP DOING IT-- NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR YOUR LOUD, ANNOYING AND RIDICULOUS MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. LMAO to the comment above mine. Funny, yet so wrong!

I assume that he is inconsiderate or unaware how his actions impact other people.
I generally feel annoyed - while he certainly has the right to listen to loud music, I also have the to listen to my OWN music, and if his drowns out mine, that's unfair. If it's really bothersome, I sometimes try to get his attention and request in a friendly manner that he turn it down a tad.

I do not mind the music, but the bass is a form of nose pollution that is inconsiderate to others. I liken it to people who smoke cigarettes around people, who do not care to smell it, because the people pounding the bass are forcing others, who do not care to hear it, to listen to the noise. All of us need to consider each others' comfort instead of only thinking of our own enjoyment. The people who think this action is cool might not realize that they are directly affecting others with their bass, but they are coming off as rude, inconsiderate, and selfish. We all do annoying things, but we need to think about who we are affecting with our habits, and try our best to do these things away from others.

Like doing the same thing with some music that will make them mad, like country music or something (provided you have the big subwoofers too). Even better when you roll down the windows.

Young and rude. I am young and had a system in my last car, when I came to a red light or pulling into a public place or home... I always turned it down. It is not hard to do and shows a person is courteous.

I conclude that he is trying desperately to be noticed, he (wrongly) assumes that everyone around him will think he is cool because of his choice of noise...um..I mean music, he is probably close to being legally deaf, and he more than likley has just enough brain power to keep breathing.
