I mean simple things like going to each others homes for dinner and things like that.

Do we mostly stay with our own kind?? or do we mix?

How ignorant of people to ignore the fact that other races and cultures do exist in this world and say stupid things like "We're all human." Of course we're all human, but there are such immense and even often subtle differences that create the intrigue among us in the world.

I spend a lot of time with friends from Europe. In fact, I prefer it this way, because I admire European culture these days and how well it has been retained. I prefer to spend my time with almost anyone from a different culture or race, because it makes for more creative and interesting conversation, considering the different backgrounds.

This question is flawed as it implies that if we do not spend time on a regular basis with people from other cultures or races that we are somehow less cosmopolitan than those who do. I am a white English woman who has a traced 10 generation English family. I live in rural Norfolk, England in a tiny village of just 20 houses some 20 miles from the nearest large town, 40 miles from the nearest city (Norwich). My exposure to other races and cultures is limited by geography however, my tolerances and liking for other human beings, whatever corner of the planet they may come from or what religion they may practice, are infinite.

I have a young baby so don't get out much now, but was pretty social last week. I live in North Surrey, but was brought up in East London.

One was a mothers night out. pretty much all white.

Dropped next door but onew for lunch with baby. Wife is of Indian decent, Hindu I would guess, and her husband Italian.

Also stopped off in the house one door further down to talk to the Indian couple as she is expecting a baby and wanted some tips, so showed her bottle etc.

I had lucnh with a South african on day at work and another group of 6, mainly white, women another.

I mix through culture and race, but I will say all of the above people I do consider to be of professional classes, even if that is not true of their ancestory.

I'm a live-in member of the fire department, and of the people I live with, we're mixed pretty evenly, black and white. We go out together when we get the chance. I think whether or not you socialize with other races depends on where you live and the demographics there. The area I live in is pretty well mixed, so it makes sense statistically that I have friends of different ethnic histories. People who live in areas that aren't very integrated don't have that chance.

my husband is from the caribbean, im english. a normal day is multicultural (vincy/english).

i have friends from egypt, jordan, greece, nigeria, pakistan...

so for me personally i mix with a lot of cultures on a weekly basis. i spend a few hours a month in a completely culturally different event. its not on purpose its just something im invited to. i love it, i have learnt so much about the world, and im less judgemental.
even though my life is like this, i have many friends that dont mix. so it just depends on the character of an individual :)

We are already "mixed". There is no such thing as other races. There is only the human race. The rest was invented to justify slavery. Different people come from different cultures, but this is not all that big a difference when one really sits down and compares.

Alot, considering mine and my boyfriend's roomate is Asian. Also, where we live is a melting pot of different cultures. There are Asians, Middle Easterners, Indians (from India), Africans, African Americans, Hispanics, and whites all in literal walking distance from my home. I like it. It's really neat to experience different people from different cultures. It's quite educational because as you get to know the people you learn something new about where they came from. It can really open your eyes to the misconceptions and myths applied to others.

Mostly with white people. But then again I do live in England in a predominantly white area.

I don't like the fact people don't 'mix', it causes more racism.

well the truth is we tend to stay with our own kind, because of our cultural and social backgrounds,,,,but the reality is we need to bring into our lives people of cultures to add joy of the human spirit,,,,,which is in us all,,,no matter what race colour creed...and banish the ignorance and doubt of the tribal beginnings of mankind?????
