How can people date and fall inlove over the internet w/out ever meeting or seeing one another ? I was wondering because I heard people say they met this person over the "computer" and they're dating. I think that is a case of, what would you name it??

As a topic for discussion, what do you think might make a mother do something like this? The reason I ask is because recently, in an area about an hour from where I live, an infant's body was found in a lake. This is the third instance of this happening in that same area in 8 years. Police are currently investigating, but their leads on the case are limited.
I watched the special report on tv today and they discussed the type of profile that someone who would do this might fit into. Could be any woman of childbearing age, who most likely concealed their pregnancy. They most likely withdrew from school or work in order to hide it. And that's about as specific as the police can get so far. The autopsy results show that the baby was in the water for as long as 6 months at the most, but even that's a pretty general estimate.
As a mom, this strikes me at the heart. What kind of person do you suppose would do something like this, or what kind of situation do you think they were in?

This guy sam3gallon posted a question with racist undertones as what he called, "a test." He wanted to see how many people would assume it was a white person posting the question. He claims to be Asian. What do you think the value of this guys question is? I think it is personally designed to heat up tension and it has no value.

I recently posted a dead Razor standup electric scooter to local "freecycle" Yahoo groups. The listing stated the scooter would be free but new batteries would have to be bought at Walmart for $50. I had hundreds of local responses. I selected someone and they picked it up. Now it gets stupid.

I also have another scooter that is working great I want to sell for $50. For those that didn't get the free scooter, I sent a message to them asking if they were interested. You won't believe the responses! For example:
"I'm sorry, I can't afford this scooter now"....then where was the money for batteries coming from if I gave you the free one?
"I cant store anything else in my garage now"...then where would the free scooter have gone?
"I want the scooter to have a seat"...the first one had no seat, why would you want it?
"my son is too young for this scooter"...but he wasnt too young for the free one?

So please help me undrstand where this type of ignorance and stupidity comes from?

Im writing a 5-page paper about Langston Hughes' Let America Be America Again....Can anyone give me some ideas on what america symbolizes now & what it stood for back when it was first colonized? what is ideal america? What comes with living in america? Freedom is an obvious one. But at the same time, do we really indulge in the full extent of freedom? are their any limits? do these ideas of america still exist, have they ever, or are we still striving to obtain the america we once thought it to be? i appreciate any and all answers...and please for the sake of not wasting time & space don't tell me freedom. :) thank you.

Every month focusing on a group of people...african americans and women for instance. I feel like everyone needs to just get over their "special quality" and start working on the larger picture. Sometimes I feel frustrated that our society is trying to do me (a woman) a favor by making the rest of the country try to appreciate or empower me. BLAH! I don't want to be singled out, helped or supported because of my gender. I just want to be a person. Does anyone else get what I am trying to say?

Could someone please tell me what is wisdom? What is the difference between cleverness/smartness and wisdom? What is a wise man/woman? I really need someone to help me with these questions. Some people said that wisdom can educate a man/woman. Also, cuold you please list at least 3 pieces of wisdom???

I am a straight A student and happy with it. My friend has straight C's. She just doesn't care about her grades enough to get them up to B's or A's. I was arguing with her that she should care. She doesn't. She doesn't see reason to change. She is content with being average. So how would I convince her that she should care?

Anyway what about people who don't do much during school, but somehow become great anyway? How could I argue against that? I have tried to find reasons and explanations and have failed. What do you guys have?
