I am a straight A student and happy with it. My friend has straight C's. She just doesn't care about her grades enough to get them up to B's or A's. I was arguing with her that she should care. She doesn't. She doesn't see reason to change. She is content with being average. So how would I convince her that she should care?

Anyway what about people who don't do much during school, but somehow become great anyway? How could I argue against that? I have tried to find reasons and explanations and have failed. What do you guys have?

I have mixed feelings about education.

I, myself, graduated from college with a BA in Operations and Info. Management. I believe that education is very important. I also realize that many people have become very successful in this world without a college degree. That usually takes a lot of hard work, determination, and in so many ways, street smarts. You can't put a definition on success; you can only respect those who have become successful despite society's standards. I still feel that you should get an education to have something to "fall back on", so to speak. But I also feel that if you are passionate enough about something that doesn't have to be achieved thru institutionalized education, I say go for it.

there not a whole lots you can say. she will either 1. realise after school that her grades meant more than she gave them credit for or 2. will be great anyways. It just depends on her drive. If shes got the drive to succede then her grade may not mean anything but otherwise she'll feel it when she's struggling to get a job. we make misteaks and have regrets. Nothing you can do about it. just keep going forward.

There are a FEW that are not traditional learners or that are not challenged enough in a traditional setting to achieve. Of these some actually go on to great things after school, but a majority don't. For every one that makes it big there are literally hundreds of thousands that end up working in low-paying, dead-end jobs.

People are different dude.... some like what you have, some don't. and you can't MAKE someone change their minds.. it just doesn't work.. the more you argue the more they are sure that they are right.

if i never finished highschool i would have never learned all
i needed to survive real life.

I learned how to dodge bullets in school.....
but you cant just shoot at your kids.....
you gotta start by letting them dodge chairs....
and you are too big to throw them,
so kids their own age get to throw chairs at your kids for you
because when they grow up....
it will usualy be people their own age who wanna shoot em.

She shouldn't care.. She will get just as far as you will. It's not grades that matter.
