Im writing a 5-page paper about Langston Hughes' Let America Be America Again....Can anyone give me some ideas on what america symbolizes now & what it stood for back when it was first colonized? what is ideal america? What comes with living in america? Freedom is an obvious one. But at the same time, do we really indulge in the full extent of freedom? are their any limits? do these ideas of america still exist, have they ever, or are we still striving to obtain the america we once thought it to be? i appreciate any and all answers...and please for the sake of not wasting time & space don't tell me freedom. :) thank you.

America is (was) the land of pioneers. Many of our modern machines and devices were invented in this country. America was also a departure from the traditional way of life in Europe. Equality in the law, equal opportunity and a general acceptance for all citizens of all social backgrounds. America is a land where a hard working individual can reap the rewards, unlike Europe where peasants could work on their master's land till they dropped but never get ahead. So do you love America now?

Early America symbolized hard working people who weren't afraid of adversity when they sought to accomplish their goals.

Today's America symbolized egotistical people who want everything without producing anything, who want to do literally anything they want without consequences, and a generation growing up thinking the world owes them more than it owes God himself.
