There is no national identity, unlike Scotland, Ireland and Wales. There is no longer a national industry- England relies nearly 100% upon imported raw materials, goods and even labour.

St George has nothing to do with England, and yet is the national saint- even though very few English people know when his day is, who he was, and don't even recognise St Georges day. The day of remembrance is marked only by a 2 minute silence, when in fact it should be a bank holiday.

The media popularises characters such as Jade Goody. ASBOs are seen as badges of honour. I could go on and on- I used to have hope for England, hope that I could one day restore it to the old ways.

Now I am unsure. It seems to me as if England has slid too far. Is it time to abandon ship?

My husband and I have recently relocated to the UK...specifically Suffolk county. My husband is in the United States Air Force which is way we moved. What I want to know is how I can make people see past the stereotype they have of American service members...I know some(okay alot) of them are rude, cocky, and think the US is better than everybody...but we are not all like that. I always try to be extra polite and smile and make nice small talk, but it never seems to get me anywhere. Any suggestion on what I'm doing wrong?

I have stopped drinking alcohol for 2 weeks now. People seem to be having trouble accepting it. I was never a big drinker but now I really don't enjoy it. Since I have stopped my sexuality has been questioned and people look at me like I am from another planet, why?

One of my friends (begins with an "L", and with a "auren") has been through my profile, and I found that a little embarrasing because I was approaching this as a kind of role playing game.
But it got me thinking, does this happen to a lot of people? Do you aproach Answers as an anonamous activity? Does the fact that Answers is not personal give less incentive to be truthfull? Or on the flip side, is the fact that Answers is less personal, more freeing and allow you to ask questions you would otherwise be to embarrased to ask?
Please no Wiki/text book answers.... ;~)
