One of my friends (begins with an "L", and with a "auren") has been through my profile, and I found that a little embarrasing because I was approaching this as a kind of role playing game.
But it got me thinking, does this happen to a lot of people? Do you aproach Answers as an anonamous activity? Does the fact that Answers is not personal give less incentive to be truthfull? Or on the flip side, is the fact that Answers is less personal, more freeing and allow you to ask questions you would otherwise be to embarrased to ask?
Please no Wiki/text book answers.... ;~)

As for me, I am proud of every question I pose and every answer I give. I always send links to my sons to read my questions and my answers and they are proud of me.

Due to the fact that Yahoo answers is 1) free, 2) unsolicited, and 3) lacks fact-checking, questions and answers should be taken lightly. People participate for a variety of reasons.

Personally, my questions and answers flip-flop between serious and humorous depending on my mood at the time.

The Internet, wikis, and yahoo answers are still very new concepts. It will probably take time for people to adjust to the new paradigms. If you are liberal with your Internet postings, you will undoubtedly write some things that you disagree with down the road. Postings made on Internet sites such as yahoo answers are not drafted and checked for facts; they are much more shot "from the hip." Family and friends should understand this.

In time, people may interpret Internet postings as free thoughts that permanently linger. Much of what is written on the Internet formerly existed only as soundbites at your favorite local bar or coffee shop. These soundbites disappeared as soon as you walked out the door. The permanency of Internet postings is a new paradigm. Hopefully we choose to take words lightly; I have never witnessed a person die from reading too much (yet?).

I personally am honest in all my answers, as I try to be honest in my dealings with my fellow man.

Would it embarrass me if my family or friends read? Not at all. In fact, my husband and I read each others all the time and compete to see who can get the most top answers. LOL

But I am known for being brutally honest and not giving a fig if someone agrees with me or not, so my family is used to my bluntness. I don't think any of them would be surprised by my answers on here.

No,if you answer from your heart and what you actually think. I don't think this should be embarassing. You shouldn't care what others think about your reasons and views, Only if they were true and from the depths of your soul.

Yeah, I'm not so much fake with my friends so there'd be no embarrassment.
