I have stopped drinking alcohol for 2 weeks now. People seem to be having trouble accepting it. I was never a big drinker but now I really don't enjoy it. Since I have stopped my sexuality has been questioned and people look at me like I am from another planet, why?

Yes I agree I could socialise with a different crowd, a lot of my interests are sporting and I this is how I fill my time. negative comments are a pain but i don't let it bother me! Comments have been from workmates and gf's father! I think drinking is deep in our culture which personally I think is a bit sad, but people will have to get used to it!

STAND UP AND BE PROUD....

There is no shame in that. You are able to do something that few others can.... and thats say NO.

I stopped 3 years ago, and never looked back, not only will you feel the financial benefits, but also your health and mental health will be worlds apart from where they are now.

Keep up the good work. There are others out there like us. And we are a good 43% of the youth out there (64% in Adults)

PS. think about this, we can have just as a good time as they do, but we at least remember it later on... lol

Try alterntaive music cultures and clubs... ie rock, metal, numatal, emo, skatepunk, psi-trance

www.accessallareas.org

Go to the backpacker scene clubs like www.thechurch.co.uk, get up on stage for the full monty competitions etc.

all are more fun and care more about the music scene and atmosphere...

ie they dont need to drink to dance... some do some dont]

And they are wilder then a pub.

ie

www.carwash.co.uk has a pool and jacuzzi where clothing is optional.

www.thechurch.co.uk has strippergram type dancers who cover guys in cream and use their boxers as golf Ts to hit oranges over the audience

etc

Alcohol is a depressant, meaning that's clearly meant to sluggish you down. As a woman, that's thoroughly favourite to succumb to the consequence of alcohol swifter than adult males. oftentimes, the smaller your physique mass, the least tolerant you're. that's not unavoidably an hypersensitivity. settle for that your physique is telling you that it is going to no longer be able to soak as much as you used to, and don't difficulty approximately it. Be risk-free with intake, yet comprehend you will desire to cut back your self.

Mate, if you don't want to drink, that is up to you. People will scorn you, cause it is a deep part of our culture.

However, I have know a couple in my life that do not drink, and at a wedding, one of them was nearly in serious trouble with the bride's father. I think he was in for being turfed out of the party, or maybe more.

I was best man for my friends recent wedding [the other one who doesn't drink], he took a sip of the champagne, and the asked me to finish it.

At least he tried....

That's because lots of people who drink alcohol consider non drinkers a bore. Try and socialize with people who have similar interests like you.

Yes, drinking is deeply rooted in our society and that is sad. I understand what you are trying to say.....but why worry that other people have a " problem " with your " not drinking ". Keep up the good work and don't let them influence you by their negativism.
Good Luck....

Becasue these people feel alcohol defines them. Their idea of having a good time os going out and getting as wasted as possible. Just because you are mature enough not to have alcohol to make you have a good time.

Forget them and stick to it, your body and wallet will thank you in the long run.

Coz THEY drink and think that only those who drink are people from earth. But you do know, that the other planet is also in the universe just as the earth is, don't you? So, you are not a total outsider... :-)

I found the same years ago. It's their own psychological insecurities. Can't think of another name for it. Don't let it get to you. Eventually you will find out who your real friends are. Beyond the ones that think you are great because you can do the driving.

People can be so narrow minded. i quit smoking at new year, and although it gave me more of a social stand within my work place, since i've quite, poepl don't talk to me even half as much, and i may be paranoid but i'm sure they all talk about me now that i don't go out and smoke with them....

I hope they all see the light soon and take a leaf out of your book....

:D
