This is not a race issue at all, even non white Americans like US born Chinese, Indians, etc. seem to exhibit a very arrogant and condescending attitude towards anyone with a slight accent. They assume we are dumb, while I beat them in almost every test score for not just math but even in their native english. I speak multiple languages, unlike most Americans. I try and apporoach them in a very friendly and optimisitic manner; but what I get in return is artificial friendliness at best or outright rudeness and nastiness at worst. I feel so much more comfortable interacting with people who have not grown up here.

It is so annoying. Its slowly turning a nice person like me into a jerk. It seems to me that the American culture is one of arrogance, bitterness and fakeness. I am not saying all; but many seem to be small minded, nasty and miserable people whi seem to hate their lives and need material things to keep them happy.. Its sad.

I've heard a black friend say that being black is so tough today that it is like trying to live your life in a wheelchair. Is it really that bad, and should african-americans get SSI for this?

for just a moment ? or do you constantly care about them and donate your services and money to be helpful ?
or are you happy that our country's military and our other USA based companies travel to foreign countries and try helping those people get on their feet while trying not to feed their dictators .
I think Americans are mostly generous and I think our country is the best considering other countries the same size as ourselves and what they do/don't do .

I am a single parent and have sod all left at the end of the month because I have a huge mortgage. My 20 year old daughter wants to go to university and it is calculated that I can "top up" her living expenses when granting her loans and grants. If I was on the dole or living in Wales she would be quids in but because I work full time and live in an expensive area she will either struggle or drown. We calculate she will have about £36K student debt at the end.

This is kinda a few questions in one, so, here it goes: We are planning on going to Japan, but we haven't set a date yet. My mom says definitely not this year, maybe in 2008. My twin sister and I are in 6th grade now, so in 2008 we will be in 7th grade. We would be staying for 2 years or more in Japan. (Mom is teaching English.) When do you think we should go?
Also, what are good places for tourist to go in Japan? What shrines should we visit? What sites should we see? What restaurants should we eat at? Where should we shop? Please write everywhere that you think is somewhere we definitely don't want to miss out on! Also, what are some things we should know before we go?
And, one last thing, how old do you have to be to get a job in Japan? This is purely out of curiosity.

Last of the Mohicans is like that for me. So is The Patriot and, I hate to admit it, but I can watch Pretty Woman over and over again too.

..but not the other way around? The reason I ask this question is because a black friend went to see one the other night and was quite shocked at his attitude to white people? It doesn't really offend me, but I find it a bit hypocritical.

There are many cases where someone did something horrible like left their child for dead in a trash can and then decided years later when they learn the child is alive that they they want their child back...someone like that does not deserve to be a parent yet in a USA court they would be favored based on the fact that they are the birth parents...that's why people go out of the country to adopt by why is it that way in the USA?!

For me, I have a real problem with 100's of young people being killed every day, not only in Iraq, but on our own American soil.....gangs shooting down little kids, and mothers killing their own beautiful children...........perverts and petifiles...............God bless us.
