yes, it is like that. people give you dirty looks, even if you dont even know them. This one old guy called me a ***** the other day and said i should go to hell. it's hard to be black. but, it's not that bad where you would have to get a disability for it. you cant stop people from thinking and acting the way they want to. that's just how it is, and i just have to deal with it.

Being black is not a disability and I wouldn't dare compare it to living life in a wheelchair and no we shouldn't get SSI just because we're black. I, personally, have experienced discrimination, racism, etc, but I did not let that stop me from achieving my goals. If your friend feels like that, maybe he should take that all the negative experiences and use it as motivation.

No, it's not a disability, & african-americans should not get SSI just for being african-american. They are just normal people like mexicans, asians, whites, etc. Some african-americans make everything a bigger deal or try to look too much into something in a negative aspect. You get treated how you act, not what color you are.

No! That is absurd. It is not like being in a wheelchair. Its unfortunate that the equality in this country is such a joke, but getting SSI for the color of your skin isnt fair to any race/creed/sex/organization.

I am sad to hear this, though I am not black myself and cannot feel as deeply as they can and obviously do. Is SSI, social security indemnity? The thing to know is that we come back again and again in successive incarnations under different identities to experience our past mistakes, make amends for them and repay some of our past faults, in other words our karma. Does your black friend realize that in a past life he may have been a slave trader or a slave owner and to-day he is born black, just to experience what in the past he may have inflicted unto others ? Do tell him that however hard it may seem for him now, that it may be doing his soul good in that it is purging it of past faults and sins.

to be a member of a recognizible race that is a minority but is responsible for 70% of crime in the US must be tough. south africa has even worse numbers. i wouldn't call it a disability though. too many blacks have overcome the stigma. we see a lot of people these days with "jailhouse" tatoos, also. this may be "cool" in jail, but when you get out they signal other people to avoid you, whether white, black, or green. life is what you make it.....cliche!

Having never been black myself I could not know for sure ,but looking back in history they sure have been opressed in the past. I don't think the color of your skin would qualify you for SSI.

White people are more likely to get sunburnt and catch skin cancer, so if anything, being white is a disability. There aren't really any disadvantages to being black.
