Are companies like SAGA legally allowed to only offer services to people over the age of 50? And "Sheila's Wheels"... they advertise car insurance for women only, can they legally do this?

I know in some cases companies can stipulate that workers must be Chinese (for instance in a Chinese restaurant) or Indian (to play a part in a stage show for example), but these are different.

It's like saying "Holidays for white people only", or "car insurance for Muslims only".... isn't it? Could you imagine the stink from women's rights groups if a car insuance company said "insurance for MEN only"?!

Unfortunately these days I think I need to put one... So before you all reply and start insulting me, I'm not at all sexist or racist (in fact I have friends from just about every "ethnic group" (is that PC enough?) that you can think of) the examples above are just EXAMPLES, nothing more... but I think they help demonstrate an interesting point!

There was a story of a man who had shot two men in the back after they robbed his store and turned to leave. They held him up with a fake gun, took watches etc.. Now.. the reason why it had come to this point, is because, after being robbed 9 times, and no help from police, this man kept an illegal gun (9mm) in his store, thus taking matter's into his own hands. Many people here agree with what he did, and he may only get a few months in jail, IF any time at all. My question's are, Is it right to take the law into our own hands? And, should this man do time? Or, Is he right? and if police are not helpful, is it ok to just shoot people in the back and get away with it? I would really like to hear opinions on this.

It seems as though Americans are so pretentious that they actually get angry with people who are honest in how they present themselves; as though if another person, company, organisation or whatever doesn't blow smoke up their nose, they get mad. Is this so? and if it is, is it because advertisers and politicians have been so full of crap for so long that they've conditioned the American public to be that way?

David WU, Congressman from Oregon said on the house floor that the Administration saw themselves as Vulcans. He proclaimed they were Klingons. I happen to know the Klingons are a warrior race based on HONOR. This bunch are neither warriors or beings with honor. Aren't they more like Ferengi? A greedy class based on the acquistion of wealth regardless of the consequences to others?

I am really curious to know what you all think. Is a girl wanting to have a "male roommate" surprise you and raise questions in your mind, or is it normal and you don't care? This roommate is not her BF.

Here's the thing. We accept call centers in India, airlines that pack us in like sheep, automobiles that don't stand a chance against other foreign makes, shoddy workmanship etc. Why? Why? Why? It's time to stand up and say no. We're not going to take it anymore.

The Nth wave of immigrants to this great nation, during these years, has been Indian, Indonesian, Vietnamese and Mexican, among others. Do you see racism abating, and tolerance increasing, as America's melting pot keeps enriching it's mixture? Or do you see racism surging, and as bad as ever now, and only being visited on different groups than it was, say, 100 years ago.
