It seems as though Americans are so pretentious that they actually get angry with people who are honest in how they present themselves; as though if another person, company, organisation or whatever doesn't blow smoke up their nose, they get mad. Is this so? and if it is, is it because advertisers and politicians have been so full of crap for so long that they've conditioned the American public to be that way?

You are generalizing the way an entire nation of people think, millions of people. It's a very large country with sub-cultures in each of it's regions.
Where are you getting this impression from? From TV? From Americans that you know personally? From Americans on this site?
I'm an American and I've never gotten angry at someone who presents themselves honestly. If you were to give an example of where you got this idea from, I'd be happy to update my answer, analyse your example and answer your question honestly.
Also, what country are you from?
In my community, sincerity is respected and valued.

Simply put, they are not matured enough. Don't let them bother you.

Of course we want dishonesty, otherwise we'd revolt, do like the patriots did and start over.

Americans and people in general are f-ing stupid and actually want other people to be dishonest with them so they can carry on their little dilusions in life.
