My pal Stan admits he believes the 4 year figure is correct, but sees no need to 'panic', as he claims "they" have built LNG terminals on all three of our coasts. But how do we get Liquid Natural Gas when our natural gas wells are depleted? Could 'they' have fallen into the same trap that most of us have? -- Natural gas has been with most of us our entire lives; it seems inconceivable that it should one day (soon?) be depleted.

Isn't it time humankind reduces its 'footprint' on the planet by the fairly simple method of the one-child family? Acceptance of such a drastic change in public policy will surely take time (ask the Chinese!), so it seems like a race between reducing population to sustainable levels and the depletion of the fossil fuels.

Maybe giving 'prefence points' as to jobs, travel, housing, travel, etc to those who are willing to cooperate would pay off. Any other ideas??

My husband, infant son, and I were driving home through our (very large) neighborhood minding our own business when we saw a young, teenage girl jogging along one of the walking paths. We also saw a beater-of-a-car slowly following her about 100 yards away. We thought, "We must be seeing things!" So, we went around a corner and doubled back to be certain that we actually saw this correctly. It's a nice neighborhood, so the beater car seemed kinda strange, too. When we circled again, we thought, "Yes, this car is actually following this girl." So, I got on the cell phone and called the police because we thought it was so suspicious. Then, we circled a few more times and were able to stop along side her & call out the window to her that there was a car following her. She said, "Yeah. It's my Dad." We were both extremely glad & horribly embarassed, and called the police back to update them. Then, we've second-guessed our reaction ever since. What would you have done if you saw this?

What do you think of them? I think save the date magnets or announcements are tacky personally, and wouldn't send them at all. I think telling someone that they need to mark their calendar months or years in advance of a wedding is a little presumpuous. I mean, I have enough crap going on in my life, I will decide WHEN THE TIME COMES if I want to go to your wedding. I just think it is snotty to assume everyone needs the date ASAP as your wedding is so darn important, it needs to be on my mind and calendar RIGHT NOW.

When I got married, both time, this was not somethign I even considered. And honestly, the first time, in 1997, I don't even think there was such a thing. I just don't think I am so important, that people need to save the date for me in advance.

Am I just a crabby old 30-something? What is with this trend???

Ok...So I've been out of school for going on 3 years, but since I graduated I've kept in touch with my eleventh grade english teacher who I see as basically my mentor. This teacher helped me through a very tough time in my life. We have kept in touch through email up until July. Ever since then, I have written to him and not recieved any response. I assume that maybe the school changed email addresses and I'm not worried b/c I know he wouldn't ignore me all of a sudden. But anyways, I haven't visited him in 2 years, but I'm thinking about going there before Christmas, and possibly getting him a card and gift. But I'm a really shy person, and I'm worried that it's going to look like I have some sort of "thing" for him. Maybe I feel that way because my friends always picked on me about him, saying I loved him, when really I just looked up to him as a mentor. With all that said, what do you guys think? Would it be ok to get him a gift? Or not. If so, what would be appropriate?

... that men, in general, love women?

I've heard "look at the Taj Mahal" a million times. Pardon me, but I'd like a little more evidence than that. Considering the amount of time humans have been around, it's an unbelievably lame answer.

I already know I can answer my question myself. No-one can show me any evidence, quite simply because there isn't any whatsoever.

On this one occasion, I would love to be proven wrong. Anyone?

Nah, didn't think so.
