stun gun..for self defence...?

I am trying to find out what I can do to protect myself (and others) and came across a Stun Gun.... what is this? and how do I use it?

You should not get a stun gun, what you need is some pepper spray the effects will last longer and in dangerous situations gives you time to get away. Pepper Spray is legal in the U.S.

Stun guns are OK - If the model you have is less than 600,000 volts you are not as safe as you think. When you check my site go to the link below on comparing your options. There are a few drawbacks to stun guns - you have to touch your attacker with them. TASERs are different - they have a 15" range and are more effective then stun guns and more often than not even more effective than pepper spray.

To get a feel for how effective they are - SHOCK YOURSELF. No kidding. First of all you will see that they are only effective when they are incontact with your skin. THEY WILL NOT KILL YOU if they are manufactured by a reputable manufacturer.

To answer your question - hit the inner areas of the body. Inner thighs, Arm Pitts, Throat and Groin. You get a better reaction - which creates more distance giving you more time to escape....

Everyone on here takes the "high road" when talking to someone interested in learning Martial Arts... yes a gun is best for self defense... and you shouldn't learn Martial Arts to learn how to fight.... but all the people that are taking the "high road" got into Martial Arts for those reasons... they wanted to know how to defend themselves and or wanted to know how to fight... Honestly any Martial Art would be great for you, and you will find many other positive benefits that you weren't even looking for... if your fear of a man 2 or 3 times your size finding you in a dark alley is what motivates you, passive isn't going to help you... attacking may or may not.... there are many types of Martial Arts out there (and the quality of the schools varies widely within each)... All i can suggest is that you do some research in your area and find the best fit for you.... Your comfort level with the instructor and the atmosphere is far more important than the style they teach... don't sign a contract with anyone, i don't care how good of a salesman they are.... you have the right to change your mind and say hey "this isn't for me", wish you the best of luck, the hardest part is showing up...

Use it carefully. My daughter stopped a rapist because she had a stun gun. It sends out an electrical charge and you touch the person with it and zap them if they are laying their hands on you or threatening you seriously. It can cause unconsciousness and a heart attack so it is serious. But it is kinder than a gun with bullets.

first of all they are illegal and classed as an offence weapon and you can be imprisoned for it the easiest thing to carry with you is a samll can of hairspray it acts like a pepper spray but you can't be arrested for having it
