Such as, men must understand to treat women kindly and respectfully;.... to learn to say please and thankyou:.....just basic down to earth manners and the reasons why.....and what is appropriate and what is not. such as covering the mouth when coughing...and the reasons why. Also washing of hands after using toilet, and general cleanliness. Also the most basic alternatives they can do to enjoy themselves, such as barbecues, walks in parks and etc.

Peace, love and Gap? Is that what our society is reduced to? Is any one else offended by this insipid, simplistic and infantalist consumerism?

Save the world by buying a freakin' hoodie? Jesus H. Christ on crutches! Can I get a witness?

Hey guys,
This is really scary...

If you type in the number of the plane which crashed into the two towers on September the 11th then change it into "wingdings" (you know the font), it comes up with a plane, two towers, a skull, and a star...do it in word...it really works!

The plane number is Q33 NY (make sure the Q the N and the Y are all capitals)

I hate standardized tests. But it would seem ultimately more hurtful to society than the use of steroids in sports.

Two people rent a kayak and paddle out to sea. After just 2 or 3 minutes person A's paddle snaps during a normal paddling stroke. No excess force or contact with anything other than water was experienced.

How much, if any, blame should be attached to person A?

a) None - person A is not at all at fault
b) Some - it is unfortunate but that person was using the paddle and must share the blame
c) All - it wasn't anyone else's fault, and blame must be attached to someone.

If a brand new paddle costs $20, how much should person A pay the rental company?

a) None
b) $10
c) $20

Much appreciated, the more answers the better. I'd be interested in any legal response to question b. If this went to court, what would happen? The facts are as written above. Person A was paddling perfectly normally and this was witnessed. This got ugly!

I am writing a paper that discusses racial relations between Europeans, Africans, and Native Americans in North America during the Enlightenment (in Jefferson's "Notes on the State of Virginia"). What are the best terms to use to refer to the "whites" and the "blacks" in this location and time period? Anglo-Americans for the European settlers? I am hesistant to refer to the African slaves as African Americans, given their lack of rights... Nor were they African, since many were born in America... I am finding a variety of terminology used in my secondary sources, so I'm not sure which terms are the best to use.

Thanks!

I am a white female that recently moved to Miami. I am going crazy about being politically correct. My job involves a lot of describing people, from the general public and other wk depts. Recently, I described a guy from another dept & left out his "race" but ended up saying "black guy" at the end b/c no one knew who I was talking about. When they figured it out, they said he wasn't black & corrected me. Today, I asked an African American co-worker about some keys I found. She said "There was an African American woman just there." Is it just wrong to say black? You never hear brown, so is it Latino? or Hispanic? I would say Asian, not "Chinese." I would say Indian, refer to Native American or India. I would like to hear from all races about how you like to be referred to & how you refer to others. Please include your race. If it helps, I am white, I like to be called white. Caucasian sounds pretentious to me. I just want to feel comfortable when speaking about other people.

I was just wondering why is it that when I ask a question, one person will assume a fact that I never stated. It takes one person, then others follow and jump on the band wagon. Like I asked a question about mental illness, stated my mother was mentally ill for 20 years. Why is it the first person answered my question assumed she was not on medication for her condition. Like duh! Who would not be taking medication for years? I mentioned I believe in God, and healing. Just about everyone assumed I don't believe in medical treatment. I never said that. It was assumed

It's like people want to make other people look ignorant.
