Well, Some Of My Friends Are ALWAYS Talking In Spanish. I Dont Have A Problem With It. Its Just That I Dont Understand SOME Of The Things They Say. I Need Someone To Help Me With My Spanish! If You Willing To Help, Leave Me A Message. And If You Have A Myspace, That Would Be A Lot Easier.

My question deals with the pronunciation of "ch" at the end of a couple of words. Two words as examples: "Ich" and "Nicht." Now...I've heard these two pronounced as "Ish" and "Nisht" As well as "Ick" and "Nickt" (Which is the way I'm being taught [like a throat-clearing type sound]) I'm wondering though...is one way correct? Or does the pronunciation change depending on where in Germany you are? Or is it something else...

1.I love you mother

2.You are my best friend

3.You are my favorite teacher

4.Am I doing well in my studies?

Please and thank you! I know certian words but not phrases.

i can never remember the articles for anything, and if i havent heard the word used in conversation often, then i just resort to either using female, mostly because i like the way the articles sound. anyways i was curious about how important word gender really is for normal conversation and if i sound really silly/dumb.

I bought my husband silver dog tags for Valentines day and we can't think of what to get engraved. We've had a rough 2006, and perhaps something to do with a fresh start, or courage, or rising from adversity.
We don't have room for more than a few words or so, and are looking for something clever in Latin, Gaelic, etc.
Please keep smart-*** answers to yourself.
Thanks.

I wonder this since signing on several days ago. Are people rushed or just poorly versed in grammar and spelling. Is it possible that the latter is the simplest explanation. There must be an answer. In the words of Bill O'Reilly, "What say you?

Hiya Guys

I am a cash strapped student who is spending 3 months in spain this summer essentially to broaden my horizons.

My knowledge of the spanish language is pratically zero and I am very keen to start learning it from now!!!

I would really like to use the "Pimsleur" spanish course because i think it is a superior course to others.

Does anyone know where i can download this course for free!!!

I am desperate and have already forked out money on second rate courses.

Sincerly yours x

I was reading the local newspaper and I am trying to understand few slangs I read.

Here's what I read.

"From my point of view, the students have all got something out of the project. They are learning something new and that gives me a buzz."

Q1: What's meant by 'gives me a buzz'? Something like gives me so much happiness?

"Some of the questions were answered, but many were ducked and weaved around. It was a bit like a toothless tiger."

Q2: What's meant buy"Ducked and weaved around" and "toothless tiger"?

Thanks a lot guys.

Ok so most of us use the F word in some form or another - as an expletive, a term of sexual wanting, to tell someone to go away, etc. etc. No other word can be as many verbs, nouns and adverbs put together. Isn't it a shame it is reviled and has such a stigma against it. I'm certainly not an advocate of it's use by children and before the TV watershed time, so I'm no lentil eating happy hippy peace loving freemason, who says there should be absolutley no censorship (what I sometimes do with my partner behind my curtains would certainly get my bottom spanked by a judge - now that's another story!!) What my question is, is there another language that has a similar word with so many meanings? Just my linguistic curiosity - and if someone knows such a word, they can type it in the answer and it won't get the **** treatment cuz it'll be in a foreign language and the Yahoo obscene word recognition software won't recognise it. Clever that.
