"The Nerve of Some People"

I know what that means.
What I'd like to know is the synonym for "some people" in this context.
English isn't my native language, and I don't understan why it should be plural "people" instead of singular "person."

Thanks in advance!

dumaflachi
doo ma fla chee
Im from Texas and i dont remember where i heard it from, maybe Alabama(i have relatives their) But the other day i thought of this word. i havent thought of it in years. i used to say it alot when i was a kid. In the text i would use it in was to mean what ever i was talking about if i couldnt remember the name of it. say like if i was talking about a relative and i couldnt remember her name because of a brain fart, id say " Is ole...... uh.....whats her name..... ole dumaflachi comming over today".
anyway. i was just wondering if it was really a word or some silly made up one:)

2. Which one is better, book or online learning?
3. Do anime lover doesn't really will interest in learning Japanese?
4. Any online Japanese language web page which is really effective around?
5. What is the best way to memorize kana(the way to write and pronounce it the correct way)?
6. Do Japanese really use Japanese?
7. What's the different between learning from a language teacher and learning by yourself?
8. Most of the book i found sounds so polite. Why?
9. Is there any books which could be found worldwide and shows us how to communicate casually(not so polite and formal looking)?

DEINEN NAMEN TRÄGT MEIN HERZ
DEIN FEHLEN IST MEIN SCHMERZ
SO REIN ZU SEIN WIE DU
ZEIG´ WIE ICH DAS TU´
DU GIBST MEHR ALS DU HAST
DU LIEBST MEHR ALS DU HASST
DU SIEHST MEHR ALS DU FASST
FÄLLST NIEMANDEM ZUR LAST
PASS NUR AUF, WENN DU GEHST
WENN DU DEINE PLÄNE HEGST
WAS FREUNDE SCHAFFTEN PFLEGST
DENN BIST DU UNTERWEGS
ZÄHL' ICH DIE TAGE
ICH ERHEBE DIE KLAGE
WIR WERDEN TEILEN, WAS ICH HAB´
DU WIRST PRÜFEN, WAS ICH SAG
GEBEN, WAS ICH DIR GAB
ICH WARTE AUF DEN TAG
DU WIRST SEHEN ICH MACH WAHR
WAS VOR DIR NOCH KEINER SAH
ICH BAU´ DIR DEINE WELT
ICH WÄR´ SO GERN DEIN HELD
DU VERLÄßT NUR MEIN HAUS
WENN DU GEHST DU WIRST ERNTEN WAS DU SÄST
SIEH´ ZU, DAß DU ALLES VERSTEHST
DENN BIST DU UNTERWEGS
ZÄHL´ ICH DIE TAGE
ICH ERHEBE DIE KLAGE
DU BIST NOCH LANG´ NICHT IN SICHT
WEIßT DEINEN NAMEN WOHL NOCH NICHT
DEIN WORT HAT KEIN GEWICHT
DOCH ICH SCHREIB´ DIR DEIN GEDICHT
ICH BIN DEIN, DU BIST MEIN
ICH WIRD´ VOR DIR FÜR DICH SCHREIEN
WANN WIRST DU BEI MIR SEIN
OHNE DICH BIN ICH ALLEIN
DU BIST DER SPROß UNSERES BAUM'S
DIE ERFÜLLUNG MEINES TRAUM'S
DU BIST DER, DER MICH IN SICH TRÄGT
UND BIST DU AUF DEINEM WEG
ZÄHL´ ICH DIE TAGE
ICH ERHEBE DIE KLAGE
FÜHR' MICH AN'S LICHT
ICH ENTTÄUSCH' DICH NICHT

With the explosion of telecommunications in our modern world, we now have more TV channels than ever before, including some which broadcast only news, 24 hours a day, from all corners of the planet. In the not-too-distant past, if a boy in Hokkaido killed his parents, it would have been big news in his area but probably not in Kyushu. By contrast, now such a crime would surely be reported nationwide and perhaps in some other countries, as well.

(1) if a boy had killed his parents, it would have been big news
(2) if a boy killed his parents, it would have been big news

Which would be better? Don't you think (2) isn't consistent in that the main clause is subctive but the if-clause is not.
