Valentine's Day

[Selected]: All categories Society & Culture Holidays Valentine's Day

ok without giving my entire story, i was dating someone older tehn me and due to legality laws we were forced to break up, at the time we had been going four and a half months and we both loved and still love each other. Thing was after christmas i couldnt wait for valentines day cause i realized how much we both cared about one another, and due to the fact that people just found out we had to be torn apart. I hate age laws, anyway i am really not looking forward to valentines day this year, but its coming in 2 days anyway so does anyone have a suggestion as to what i can do instead so i dont have to think about being single or something?

Having never had a steady boyfriend nor a husband, I've given my Valentine's Day cards to classmates, friends, students, my mother, brother, and sisters, my nieces and nephews, a couple of celebrities, and even a few boys I've had crushes upon.

This year I fashioned, and just mailed off, a homemade card for Conan O'Brien using the "Horny Manatee" theme. I've also made homemade cards for my family members, using cards bought in bulk, classroom cards, construction paper, glue, and stickers. Tonight I think I'll buy myself a box of chocolates. On Valentine's Day I might buy myself some flowers, unless my brother (or sisters) thinks to get me some!

So--especially if you're romantically unattached--this Valentine's Day, whom will you love?

Some companies in the United Kingdom are banning their employees from sending each other valentine's day cards. A spokesman for one gave three reasons:

1) It could be interpreted as a form of sexual harassment.

2) Some women could be percieved as promiscous (a **** to the unedcuated out there) if they recieve to many.

3) Others may become jealous and have their feelings hurt if they recieve few or none.

Is this political correctness gone completely and utter bonkers this time? Or is it me that is out of touch with reality?

So last night I came up with a poem to write in the card I get for her. I think its good, but opinions are always appreciated!! Please read it and let me know what you think.....

I know you may not like valentines day
and wish it didn't exist
but to prove to you that I care about you
I am writing you this

the past few weeks
or month or two
whatever it may be
I learned some stuff
and saw some things
that have really changed me

I'm not trying to commit here
and tell you I'm in "love"
I just want to let you know
I'm here when you need a hug

Its good to have someone who cares for you
who can give you some advice
because I know how it feels to be all alone
and have no one by your side

I really like being with you
because you know how to have fun
your as crazy as me
and know how to party
and that's just number one

Just in case you're wondering
I wrote this all on my own
Because no card in the store
Or song in the world
Can tell you how I feel

Is it dumb to give a girl a valentines day gift in high school if your not dating the girl but want to use this as a way to ask them out?

I have been seeing this guy on my crew team (i'm the coxswain)(only girl on the mens team)and he is the best rower on the team. We have been seeing each other for 4 weeks now, we mainly hang out weekends(espically in the early hours)We see each other everyday at pratice and talk to each other about every day on AIM

Here's the thing, because we are on crew and arn't supposed to be together. Teammates arn't supposed to be dating (Yes I know i'm just asking for this to end bad). He was like my brother before and when we are around the team we act like there is nothing between us, none of the other rowers know.

We have talked about how we both mutually care for each other and how we arn't insterested in others, how it sucks we are on crew together so it can never be offical. I always question myself weather he really cares for me as much as I do him

If he dosn't get me anything for valentines day is that a sign? Is that the day 2 find out if he make any effort to show effection?

Considering valentines day celebrates love.... i think it would be discriminative against the rest of us singletons. Surely a day must be created to celebrate being single. And cards (beautiful) created so that we can also post some to friends and family. Or does anyone know of a country, place or people that celebrates this phenomenon? I might consider moving there for a while.

My girlfriend and I have been dating for two years but I worry that she's not as passionate about me as she used to be. I want to do more than knock her socks off for one night, I want to make sure she loves me forever.

My husband and I celebrated Valentines early this year and instead of getting me anything remotely romantic, he got me 3 video games. Now I play games with him occasionally and 1 of them was one that I had said I wouldn't mind having, but the other 2 were ones that he wanted, that he thought I might like too. We've been married almost 3 years and I get stuff like this for every holiday and it's driving me crazy!!!

I have a boyfriend, and I love him with everything. The problem is, he told me he is going to buy me a ring (and a very expensive one at that), and I am flat- out broke!
What should I do?
I was thinking of making origami hearts and filling his locker with them, but I'm terrible at origami (there are no easy directions that I can find).
Please don't suggest cooking dinner for him either- I'm a TERRIBLE cook!

We play volleyball together. I like her and I she likes me (I hope), but I don't know if she likes me like a date.

Valentines day is Wednesday, and I won't have a phone until at least Tuesday, I just ruined mine.

If you think I should ask her, what would you say? And should a borrow a phone of use email?
