Valentine's Day

I'm a college freshman. There is a girl I'm really interested in, but my concern is that we don't know each other very well. In fact, I've talked to her only twice. She seems somewhat interested in me too because she looks at me when I am not looking at her. Valentine's Day is coming up soon, and I am worried if someone will try to "snatch her up" on that day. That would be more painful than rejection. I feel like giving her something on Wednesday, but the time just doesn't seem right. I need to get to know her more, and she should feel more comfortable with me. So I'm in a dilemma. I really don't want to lose her to some other dude because it took me great balls to break the ice, but simultaneously I feel Im taking it too fast. It was hard because she's not outgoing. Is it okay to give her a V Day card? is it okay to write something like "you seem like a nice person, and I would love to get to know you better. Happy V Day?" I need y'all's suggestions because I can't make my decision.

I mean, last year I got her a broom, but no dustpan came with it. All year long she's been sweeping the dirt into her hand. So to show her how much I love her, I went to the 99 cent store and got her a dustpan. I mean, I didn't wrap it or anything, but I think she's going to be surprised and really love the romantic gesture...don't you think ladies? ;-)
