I'm a college freshman. There is a girl I'm really interested in, but my concern is that we don't know each other very well. In fact, I've talked to her only twice. She seems somewhat interested in me too because she looks at me when I am not looking at her. Valentine's Day is coming up soon, and I am worried if someone will try to "snatch her up" on that day. That would be more painful than rejection. I feel like giving her something on Wednesday, but the time just doesn't seem right. I need to get to know her more, and she should feel more comfortable with me. So I'm in a dilemma. I really don't want to lose her to some other dude because it took me great balls to break the ice, but simultaneously I feel Im taking it too fast. It was hard because she's not outgoing. Is it okay to give her a V Day card? is it okay to write something like "you seem like a nice person, and I would love to get to know you better. Happy V Day?" I need y'all's suggestions because I can't make my decision.

I'm also pretty introverted, and I can tell you right now that if she's anything like me, coming on too strong at this point will totally scare her off. I think you have a great idea; get a nice, friendly card (no big hearts or kisses plastered all over it), and write something very simple inside. Maybe, "Hi, I know we haven't talked much but you seem like a really nice person. I would love to get to know you better. Maybe we can get some coffee some time?" Then write in your name and number or email address. (I basically took your note and wrote it in what I would see as a very non-threatening way.) Don't play guessing games with a shy girl, just be straightforward, but not pushy.

Hope this helps.

Oh those college days....I remember feeling like this about a few times. Although it may seems crazy, ask her to a local party that is more casual then crazy. I always liked being asked to see the mall, a visit to the animal shelter, any thing public so that no presure is there for anything personal. My favorite is a park concert, though I live in the south. Bet of luck.

I think that sounds like a great idea. Just give her a nice card and write in something sweet like "Your face is the prettiest flower on campus. I can't wait to see how brilliant you are. How about a cup of cocoa/coffee--I'll treat."

There you've got a compliment on her looks, a compliment on her brains and a harmless invite all wrapped up in one. It's a winner. Because even if she says no, the word will get out to the other girls on campus that you are a romantic sweetie. And that's hot.

Yes, i think you should. Forget whatever everybody else say. B/c at the end of the day on Wednesday their opinion isn't gonna matter. Plus I know some many web sites for Valentines and stuff!!! An if you dont like them. Ive wrote some of my own. My email is spongebizze@yahoo.com if your interested.

I think a V Day card with an invitation to coffee is a good starting off point. Coffee is a safe first-sorta-date.
Good luck.
