Several years ago I had twenty-three relatives over for Thanksgiving dinner. After everyone ate dinner and finished commenting on what a good meal it was, one of my sister-in-laws, while at the dinner table, paused, then agreed it was delicious but cranberry sauce was missing. I had two different kinds in the fridge ready to be served in dishes. When asked why she did not ask for some during the meal or before the meal, she said she did not want to be rude. I said, if so, etiquette rules that she should not have said anything. My solution was never to invite that particular sister-in-law over to my house for dinner...and she is still the rudest person I have ever met.
