Ok my birthday is December 27th, I have never had a birthday party as a child or adult. I've never gotten mad over it, however feelings do get hurt. You always tend to receive less gifts because everyone spent too much for the holidays and your birthday becomes an afterthought. Or you get your gift on the actual holiday it's self making you feel as if your birthday is not as important as others.
It's a real dilemma for those who experience it. We want to be grateful & appericate the gift, but we want to have our special day as well.

No....try having your birthday ON Thanksgiving - like mine is this year! I remember when I was a kid getting SO mad because I thought I wasn't going to get any attention at all OR presents because it was Thanksgiving....I always had a nice suprise when we had cake and presents along with the pumpkin pie!! It doesn't matter when your birthday is - as long as you have family and friends around you - that's really all you need!

I'm confused? Why wouldn't you get to do anything. Its only 1day of the year. You can go out to dinner. have a cake and at least 1 gift. Maybe because its close to Christmas, I had two of my children Born one on Dec 5 and the other one Dec 10th and I always made time for a special birthday. They are in there 40s now and I still have them come for there Cake and gift.

My birthday IS after Thanksgiving. [November 24th] It sucks because everyone is out of town for the holiday so I have to celebrate it a week earlier/later. When's your Birthday?Well! Happy Birthday!

my son's birthday is next week. he was actually born the day after thanksgiving 3 years ago. i promise I will always let him have a party (even if it's a week after his birthday) and celebrate his special day no matter if it falls on a holiday!

my birthday is a few days before Christmas and this never really prevented any parties or gift giving, when I cared about it (i.e. when I was a kid).
my sister's birthday is a couple days after Christmas, same comment. And i've got a son and a niece coming 2 days before me.
it's all worked out quite well

In my family we have 4 November birthdays, the 15th, the 18th, the 20th and the 26th. We have learned the meaning of half birthdays. We celebrate in May.
