You aren't Jewish and this isn't Hannukah. Even the Jews only go 8 days.

Why are you Christians always trying to take more and more of the calendar. If you're going to take 12 days for a Christian Holiday, might I suggest St. Patrick's Day. It's much more fun for the rest of us.

I usually do for friends to help with budgeting, but for my immediate family I tend to just buy things I see that make me think of them without setting a limit. What do you do?

All that hype that leads up to one day only, maybe it's just me, maybe it's just that I can't let things go, haha, but as soon as the presents are all unwrapped, I'm kind of thinking, "that's it?"

I'm raising 4 kids on my own, no child support and only have a part time job (i'm in school full time) what do I do when people keep getting me gifts and I have nothing to give them in return. I cannot afford to buy them stuff. I planned on making everyone homemade candy for gifts and now I feel like it's not good enough. What to do?

To make a long story longer: I exchanged gifts last year with two coworkers. This year, the one that I (and most other people in the office) really don't like just assumed we'd do it again. She's incredibly materialistic. For example--she emailed me a picture of her 9 ft. tall Christmas tree (and included how much she paid for it) and added that she'd have to get out the Kirby (an incredibly expensive vacuum cleaner) to get up the extra needles. She just bought a new house and had to throw in the price of all the appliances she bought. I gave a good friend/coworker of mine a donation to the HSUS (she's an animal lover) last year, and this other coworker turned up her nose and made some offhand comment. I got her (the coworker in question) some gourmet coffee and a cute coffee mug from Target, and the FIRST thing she did was flip the mug over to see who made it. Regardless of what I buy or how much I spend, it'll be money wasted and she won't appreciate it. continued...

In some exstreme cases I do understand. However I also know people who always have money for cigarettes but not gifts. Also the same people who go year after year and get all they can exspecting charities to foot their Christmas when a part time job would probly of taken care of it.The fact is I see some who give to the charities from their hearts and so many who just exspect it as a handout. Also what bothers me is when someone gets on and asks for some exspensive video game. Its a handout you take what you get. Please if your family has exspereinced real hard ship dont be offended. There are loads of truly needy people out there. What I am talking about is the greedy types that exspect everyone else to foot the bill.

We just got our tree up, (but no lights) went Christmas shopping at the mall of georgia, and that seemed Christmasy, but that was it.
I feel no "Christmas spirit ness"

Maybe because theres no snow, and its 75 degrees outside

Anyone else understand this depressing situation?

I'd say:

Cat litter.
A bottle of hand sanitizer.
A lice control kit.
Rogaine for Men.
Mouthwash?

Your thoughts?
