You need to be more excited about more things. For me, there is the day of setting up the Christmas tree and decorating the house. Then there is the w/e where I make things--cookies for a cookie exchange, cinnamon tree ornaments, or (if you are more crafty than me) making gingerbread houses or starting on Christmas presents.
As you get older, it turns more into giving gifts than getting and unwrapping your own gifts. So shopping is just as exciting as you are looking for the perfect gift and getting excited about giving them something that will thrill them.
Then of course, I have holiday parties and office gatherings--at least 3 parties which involve gift opening. Then when you get married and have to merge families--
Right now you probably go to both sets of grandparents. But when you get married, now you have to figure out when to do both sides of the family. And if your spouse is like many children, a product of divorced parents, you have many sets of grandparents.
We have a full day on the 24th of my husband's side of the family. And the 25th for my side of the family. However one of my good friends and her husband are both children of divorce. So they do 24th and early 25th at her two houses and 25th night and the 26th at his two houses.
And then you also have New Years Eve.
That doesn't even mention if you are merging traditions--like 8 days of Hannukah or January 6th.
By the time you are married with kids, it will feel like Christmas is a good deal more than a month from Thanksgiving to school starting January 3-5.

Well I do love Christmas and as much as i wish it could be a whole week it really is about the DAY Jesus was born before all the commercial stuff. Technically it is 12 days though so we cooulld celebrate it for 12 that would be great. Plus, more time off from school!

I don't think so.. part of that exciting hype exists because of the fact that it is one day. And if it were more than one day it wouldn't be as special as it is.
Plus, I've always felt that Christmas is more than just "one day"... it's the time before and after the actual day where everyone's on holidays and feeling good overall. :)

some people do celebrate two or three days of christmas because they arent able to get to partys all in one day or to relatives houses
so we do kinda have the 24th 25th and 26th as "christmas"
but it seems like we really begin the christmas season in november after thanksgiving

It should be no less than a month I think.
I always get that feeling at about 9:00pm after the relatives have gone home.
