Hi--You know how it is in most families, where you spend a certain amount on each person.
This year, I've had to spend less after a big relocation and house purchase, but am afraid people expect the same as before.
I don't know what to say to my family, because I'm not starving in the streets, just a little strapped.
Do I just give the smaller gifts and say nothing?
This one's a toughie... thanks!

It's for secret santa. He likes pro-wrestling, metal music, politics, and he is a debate coach. Any ideas?

It seems to be all about food, booze, presents, pine trees, mistletoe, season's greetings, snow, winterval and chocolate advent calendars.

Even the Vatican's crib has moved out of Bethlehem into Joseph;s workshop in Nazareth.

I take care of a 90 year couple in their home. I have NO CLUE as to what to buy them for Christmas. The are rich, so I don't want to buy them a gift card because they don't need any "help" buying things. The don't watch too much tv. The don't do too much of anything. Help Please!

My boyfriend (an employeed adult) sent out a christmas wish list to family and myself. I thought only kids had these? Is it just me, or is this rude?

My brother in law and my sister who has dementia are coming in from another state, so I thought I would make them a box of fudge and candy and my brother in law a bottle of scotch.
My brother, who never shows up for Christmas, I thought I would send him 3 ribeyes for him and his wife and son on Christmas eve from my butcher. They are excellent steaks.
My son told me not to give his girlfriend a clothing item since she has tons of clothes, so I thought about giving her a neclace.
What do you think of all this?

I'm looking for the year these four holiday songs were first recorded by these artists:

"Winter Wonderland" by Aretha Franklin
"Pretty Paper" by Roy Orbison
"Santa Claus Go Straight to the Ghetto" by James Brown
"Please Come Home for Christmas" by Charles Brown

Thanks!

Our divorce will be finalized in early January. We are going to spend this holiday together and dont want to make it too awkward for her. I still love her dearly and would like to surprise her one last time.

I was raised in a religious family but Im not ultra religious myself. I really love Christmas though because of all the lights and gifts and stuff. I dont understand why other nonreligious people dislike it so much? Why cant everyone just enjoy a really cool holiday. Just do the santa commercial thing and throw parties and such you know?

that this is becoming the "cool" thing to say?
people.
christmas really hasn't changed much.
toys have.
it used to be cool to have a barbie [$15.00] when you were 12.
now its cool to have electronics [$100.00 +]

it has nothing to do with "commercialism"
it has to do with the changing of times.

everyone i know who says "christmas is too commercialized"
STILL buys presents and celebrates.
you know what it is?
you're running out of things to bit** about.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS
PEACE
