My boyfriend (an employeed adult) sent out a christmas wish list to family and myself. I thought only kids had these? Is it just me, or is this rude?

I don't think it's rude at all, if your boyfriend sees his list as a list of suggestions, not a list of demands.

I see nothing wrong with asking for what you want, provided that you understand that others may choose not to do it, or may not be able to do it.

Did you already buy your boyfriend's gift, or already have in mind what you're getting him? If so, I can understand why you're angry. If you've already bought his gift, you can either return it, or explain to your boyfriend that you're sorry but you've already purchased his gift. (Don't tell him what it is until he opens it.) If you haven't bought it, decide whether you will, or can, give him what he wants, or what you want to give him--or, if you can afford it, both.

My nephew is 17 now and my sister still sends out his Christmas wish list to everyone. I've always thought it was tacky because the list is way too long and there's no way I'll spend that kind of money on him for a gift, especially when he never says thank you. Christmas is about giving and he should just appreciate what he gets from everyone instead of sounding so greedy.

My family writes lists for christmas no matter what thier age. It saves the hastle of tracking everyone down and asking what do you want for christmas a million times. I think its practical to send them to family and your boyfriend/girlfriend because you know they are going to get you a present so why not help them out so they don't have to ask. It would only be rude if he sent it to co-workers and people that aren't planning on buying for him.

Practical. I ask for Christmas lists from everyone - including my parents and adult siblings (and my husband) so I know what to get them. It takes the guess work out of shopping and you know they're at least going to like what you got them. You might want to consider that maybe in his family they make out lists for everyone to make gift giving easier, so it just might be how he was raised. Personally - I think it's cute.

Yes,at first glance it does seem rude, but only if the items on it are extravagant and expensive.Otherwise he is giving you a direction to shop which will be a thoughtful gift and not wasteful. It will depend on the type of items on the list. However I would think in order not to have all repeats of the same gift you will have to consult with other, making it somewhat stressful for the giver.Merry Christmas!

Unless he was specifically asked for a list of ideas, that's rude and I sure as hell wouldn't be buying him anything on it.

If his mom has requested one of these lists every year since he was 5, that's a different story. Perhaps he just added you onto his 'list' list without thinking that you might not do that in your family.

I think it's cute since like most of us had xmas lists when we were kids, but yeah I guess it is a bit funny to actually send it out to people unprompted.

Actually my family (all adults) draw names and everyone is required to provide a list to everyone to make it easier.

I think it's pretty funny as long as it was going to people he knew would be getting him gifts such as parents, grandparents, you... just out of curiosity what did he put on it?
