Get him a nice shirt you'd like to see him wearing.

Then when people say "hey nice shirt" he'll say "Thanks. my GF got it for me".

I'm sorry, neither I (nor anyone else here) knows you or your boyfriend, or know what your relationship is like - so we could only suggest what we think a "typical" guy his age would like, which may not work for him at all!

Best advice - ask someone who knows him (or both of you) pretty well for ideas! Pull aside his Mom, his Dad, one of his siblings, his teammates....or perhaps a classmate....for ideas. They may have overheard him mention something he would like to have.

But regardless, try to relax. If he meant what he said (that the giver is what's important, not the gift) and he's really a good guy, he has no reason to lie to you about this! And don't think you have to spend a fortune to try to impress him! If it's from the heart, that's the best gift of all!

Good luck & Merry Christmas

Get him a top? Smart casual shirt? I don't know how much you have to spend. Hope that helps.
